I just picked up a new 2023 OR in Seattle and drove it up to Alaska.

2,400 miles later got home and did an oil change on the truck, and found some lubricant on the O-Rings. (See Picture)

Anyone knows what they’re putting on those O-Rings?

Probably just some type of grease.

looks like assembly grease, yet it should've dissolved into the oil

This is my second Taco, first time ive seen this. I was thinking maybe Ive been skipping a step for my oil changes.

Do you guys add anything to those O-Rings other than clean oil?

Since a rubber o-ring goes there, it’s some kind of silicone or rubber friendly grease. I never lube that o-ring since it just holds residual oil that leaks past the valve in the cap. The large o-ring, I put a light coat of motor oil, usually the used oil from inside the cap.

I work on aircrafts , and it’s typical for us to apply Dow Corning 4 on O-Rings, but ive never used it on automotive stuff.
