Hey, so does anyone know if you can fit a 285/70/R16 on a 2013 Toyota Tacoma with a 3 inch lift? my stock tires are 265/75/R16 but I want something a little beefier to fill my wheel well with since it’s got a small lift on it.

The biggest concern with going to a 285 70 is the width. If you go with a 285 75 which Is a much more common size then you have more height and width to deal with. You will most likely rub a little somewhere no matter what. Especially if you off road the truck. What changes rubbing the most is the offset of the wheel. If you have stock wheels which have a positive offset you are going to rub the upper control arm. The further negative you get the more it will rub the fender liner and cab mount. A simple rule of thumb is as close to the center of the hub as possible. So zero offset wheel will have the least amount of rubbing.

Thank you! I figured the 285/75 would be too wide which is why I said 285/70. I have aftermarket RaceLine Off Road wheels, they have a 0 offset I believe (can’t fully remember but I still have the boxes since I used them to store my stock wheels in so I could probably look) the tires stick out ever so slightly but not dramatically like the kids around here typically do and look stupid for lol. What would be the best size between the stock and 285 to put on without rubbing?

This is how much they stick out.

Use the above link to compare tire sizes.

The height of those 2 are the same, the 285's are 2/10" wider.

But I don't think 265/75/16 is a stock size. Either you mistyped or they are aftermarket. 265/70/16 is a stock size. A 285/70/16 would be about 1" taller and 2/10" wider that stock.

Okay thanks, and yeah they’re not fully stock, but that’s what was on it when I got it from the dealership.

The middle number (70 or 75) is actually referring to the height of the tire. That number is actually a percentage. It's saying the side wall height it 75% of the number that the width of the tire is. There's no tire on a 16 inch wheel between a 265 and 285. With that zero off set wheel I'd throw 285 75 16 on and just have to shave a little where is rubs. It shouldn't be that bad with a zero off set. I have a negative 25 and mine doesn't rub bad even at full flex off road. They stick out maybe and inch and half. Your zero offset should barely poke out at all. The offset is in millimeters. So we're talking tiny differences.

    3" toytec lift 285/75/17" tires
Running 285 75 17 on stock rims, 3.5 toytec jba UCAs, with a .25 spacer. Rub on UCAs, front stabilizer, as well as fender liners when offroading. Maybe a negative wheel offset.

I run a 315 with 0 offset and SPC uca and 1 inch lift. No rub daily, only when off roading very small amount of rubbing on body mount and inner fender on full bump.
