Probably a dumb question but today I was driving with my a/c on and the transmission kinda shifted rough from 2nd to third gear two times while driving. After that it didn’t do it again for the rest of my drive. You guys ever get any random hard shifts from your trucks? Mines a 2023 3600 miles. First time I’ve expierenced it. Kinda seems like the computer maybe had a brain fart for that short duration. Just curious on opinions or if it’s normal occasionally with these “smart” transmissions

I highly doubt it's the same situation I had with my 16 but mine went from 2nd to 3rd hard af. I took it to the dealership to get the fluid drained/refilled and it did it again. I had them do the tsb update for the transmission and still had the same issue. After dealing with it for about 3 days I took it back to them and I told the service advisor I wanted to physically see the tech check the fluid levels. (My first visit, I told them I was concerned the fluid was low based on how it was acting.) I was almost 2 qts low on trans fluid from factory. I haven't had an issue since.

They use a machine to drain and it only refills what it took out. They never physically check the fill check plug. Not saying this is your problem but might be a possibility.

It's probably fine. I noticed some occasional weird shifting habits during the hot summer months until I did a drain and fill a while back. Could have been old fluid or possibly a little low.

My '16 has 92K and does the occasional hard shift. no reason to be alarmed.

How’s the timing cover on yours? Ever leaked?

not since i've had it. I purchased it certified preowned in 2019 with 58K on it. I've looked at the service records on the toyota website and it shows some warranty work but not for the timing cover or coolant bypass.
It's still going strong so far with basic maintenance.
