Replaced filter in my 2018 quite a few times and never had a problem. Why change something that's working fine.

thanks, I am going to ad this tool to the kit.
I usually change at my buddy's work or shop and he has an actual tool someone at Toyota dealer gave him, and we haven't had any issues with that. The one from AutoZone is straight crap, it can pivot and only uses the tabs.

Only able to grab the tabs is n/g. Thats what causes these housings to crack. You want to tightly grab on all the flutes.

I bought the metal one and use it as my primary. I'll keep the plastic one as a backup, but I doubt I'll ever need it.

Same. I just swapped mine out this last oil change for an OEM metal one. Have the plastic one as backup

I had a plastic one break on a Camry. Now all Toyotas have the metal housing for us.

I bought a $25 filter wrench and went to change the oil on my wife’s 2017 highlander and the stupid plastic one broke. The dealer didn’t have any metal ones in stock so back to plastic I went. I did a few oil changes after that and it was fine. If it does break and you buy another one from the dealer check it before you leave!!! I opened one right after I bought it and it was broke in the same spot mine broke in, so I went back in and told them and they gave me a new one.

I looked at these. How’s it working out? Any issues? The dealer say anything about it? Can you still run the TRD PRO skid plate with it?
    Thanks

I'm holding out for the titanium model.
