I bought some SS3 Pros off a guy and installed them this week. I was pretty shocked to discovery the entire fog assembly is being held in by one screw… my cheapo 2007 Jeep Compass secured the lights in with 3 screws…

Have y’all ever found the need to bolster the support on your lights? Especially considering the SS3s are heavier than the stock assemblies.

    yup, one screw.

Seen some people zip tie for more support and maybe to help with vibration

No problems on several 3rd gens with upgraded fog lights using one screw. Does not vibrate and easy to install

There are 2 slots that hold the fog lamp. Screw is for locking the lamp in.

Nope. That one screw is more than enough to secure the light given the tabs are intact and installed correctly.

Also dont over tighten and strip out that screw.

    Enough for now
I saw the one screw and didn’t trust it with my ss3 maxes. I think I put in three on each side

it's not broke, don't fix it, there's one, or nearly two million of these trucks that hit the road, nary a problem.
The days of adding more fasteners to make up for poor design, have been long gone for the top performers.

That 1 screw keeps the fog pretty damn secure. Why use 10 when 1 get the job done?

Back in the day, and the day being in the late 70's to early 80's, Cibié sold a little strut maybe three or four inches long, threaded on both ends to adjust for length, that attached to the fog light housing on a Series 35 or 175 fog lamp and anchored back to the car, which both helped keep the lights in alignment and did a fine job of keeping the entire light from vibrating and bouncing around when you went over bumps or rr tracks, dirt roads and the like. A single bolt is fine as long as it never comes loose on its own.
