Good to finally become a member and this is my first post. First of all,I would like to thank all those folks out there that put in the time and effort to make this site so helpful and informative.Truly a gem!

I am in the U.S.now but live on the Pacific coast of mainland Mexico and spend most of my time surfing(when there are waves) and pondering life. Sounds great right?
Well it is, that is until last week, when I purchased a really clean 2006 4wd
4.0 trd pre runner in Colorado For better or worse my house is located in cartel country. They treat me and those who don't cross them with a great deal of respect. One caveat though, they love and I mean LOVE, 2nd and 3rd gen Tacomas. I have met two different poor souls that have lost their flashy decked out tacos.
It goes like this. "Hey amigo nice truck but it is no longer yours.Go ahead and take all of your belongings out, make sure to not forget anything. We are calling an uber for you and will wait until it arrives. "

Obviously I am interested in keeping mine, plus I hate ubers. I have already peeled off the trd stickers and my next step is hopefully find someone that will swap my scooped hood for a normal one. I am seeking out some fake rust sort of stickers to make her look like a rust bucket before I head back down South.
If anyone has any other constructive ideas please let me hear them. Thanks in advance!

    Well that’s, uhh… welcome!

If there is a genuine threat of the cartel stealing your Tacoma, you probably have the wrong ride.

Sell it and buy something less appealing. This isn’t a battle you should be near let alone can win. I hear Costa Rica has good waves too.

    Some solutions -
    Move. (Best option)
    Drive a shit box.
Buy a gun. (Might get turned into Swiss cheese if there’s multiple and if you somehow survive you will have to move anyways. Worst option)

Thanks for the prompt reply. Sorry I am new to here but not Mexico. I should have mentioned that a Tacoma or any 4wd drive that looks run down is not going to get you an uber. The cartel has standards..
