Hi. I’m in need of leafs. I am on 35’s and the truck is on a 3” lift and we wheel it pretty hard plus carry lots of weight. With the rack, tent, custom storage and fully loaded for an overland trip, I have about 700 lbs in the back. I had originally DOBINSONS leafs but they weren’t heavy load so they flattened. I then went all pro heavy load and broke one in Kentucky.

I’ve been eyeing a set of custom 4” lift 900lb overload Alcan springs for about $1400 bucks but as I’m closer to pulling the trigger, a friend said “Just Chevy 63 swap it”

after some quick research I found this is very doable for me as I have a few fabricator friends who can help with this project. I have questions though. Which shackles would I use - 4”, 5” or 6” to achieve the same 4” rear lift? And also the Chevy springs are only a 3 or 4 leaf spring which seems weak, no?

part of me says Alcan because they’re direct bolt in and haven’t heard anything bad on them but the other part of me says this swap would be a great alternative for around the same money with what seems to be improved rear axle articulation.

    Thoughts? Thanks!
