You would need two of these to set up a router table like this correct? One on each side. For some reason I thought there’d be a way to measure it from the fence to the bit accurately. Being that a tablesaw blade is parallel to a fence and a router table it tangent or whatever it would be called. Kinda confusing but i was never sure the correct way to set up router table

I used a home made sled for almost 6 years. A few months ago I knocked it over again and the rear fence almost broke off. I was going to build a new one until I price out a sheet of nice 3/4 inch plywood. Instead I bought this setup from Rockler and it works great.

 

Parallel.

Probably could figure a way to do it with two, but not necessary. One is fine. Set your edge to cut dimension using a measurement tool of your choice, lock it down and zero out to that end with the gauge, slide to the other end and lock that side at zero. Check dimension.

 

I'm in the same camp, used shop made sleds for years, and they work well. But I think I'm going to go the incra route this time.

 

Looked at those but had the ply and wanted one that’ll do up to 24”. I like having the full fence.
Was $63 for the sheet of ply (ugh) and I have enough left over to build a couple of upper cabinets for the garage.

 

I got home from vacation yesterday and had a package delivered. I ordered this from the Shop Nation guy on YouTube. He 3D prints them. Quick install this morning. Looks like it will solve some of my miter saw mess. It is going to be 108 here today and even hotter tomorrow, so I will likely not be testing it it much for the next few days.

 

New dovetail jig and dust collector. Probably couldve hand-cut in the amount of time it took to set up and dial in (still am..) but now its just ctrl+c, ctrl+vvvvvv. I can hear the old timers right now “THATS NOT A REAL DOVETAIL, COWARD!”

 

Dovetail jigs are awesome but I only use mine if I’m doing more then a couple drawers, you’re right about the set up time, very tricky and time consuming

 

I have about ten keepsake boxes I need to hammer out so it’ll make it go faster for shizzle.

Well I wish I would have thought to make the stretchers for the bottom of the table before I started the finish. I had to wait to get that done before I could .ake them because of the dust.

3 maple stretchers should help keep it flat.

Ran em through the planer and did some layout.

Holes will be slotted to allow for wood movement.

Slotted and countersunk for the stainless steel screws

They'll be recessed nicely.

Protrudes 1/2" so as not to break through the 3/4" top.

Now to get some poly on them to seal them Up.

Router set up. This way caught a lot of the chips. One fart up happened. The router collet holder chuck became loose at the router shaft mid rout. Sounded like the shit hit the fan. Shut it down immediately. I had never messed with that but tightened it best I could and it must have been somewhat loose as it sounds and runs much better.

And I think my 3/8" router bit is kinda crappy. So gonna try one slightly less crappy.

EDIT TO ADD: Lowe's store here doesn't even carry a 3/8" groove bit in 1/2" shank. Arrgh. Didn't look at HD.
