same thing happened to me in Missouri doing 75mph on the highway. lost the upper calliper bolt (also torqued) and the resulting movement in the calliper broke the section of hardline and pissed the brake fluid out. luckily i managed to safely stop and fix it on the side of the highway with a section of brake line and spare fluid i had. was a seriously scary moment.

all calliper bolts now treated with loctite and checked regularly.

For all the guys with bed racks, is getting bed stiffeners a must or is it just recommended as a precaution?

I can only relay my experience with bed stiffeners. And that is I should have got them way before the bed started to spread. For the price of those things I would not take a chance just get them and bolt them in

    It's only money :cookiemonster:

on one hand, it's a couple hundred bucks for stiffeners

on the other hand, it's more than a couple hundred bucks for repairing your bed sides.

but it's also a couple of bucks to have eye bolts installed at both ends and a ratchet strap permanently fixed to pull the bed sides in

^Easiest time to weld in reinforcement is when it isn't installed yet and still straight :gossip:

    Awesome. Sold. e-transfer?

@TeecoTaco I would love to exercise the TW express to Brampton. My in-laws are there, would be making a trip within a week or two.
