Rough ride after driving over curb

You guys realise this thread is over 2 years old?
Hoping OP will come back and give us closure but my money is on the impact with the curb knocking a wheel out of balance

 

Alignment.

So I got back from Europe, I was young with no job, and needed to grow up fast as I spent every penny I had at an unsuccessful Euro life. Hustled on the road/bus and finally landed a job at a subsidiary Hertz insurance company copying records via subpoenas. My route was Orange County. But since I was the youngest (everyone else was a bit older than me) they would call me to take care of what we called “immediate attention.” Which meant, they needed me to come back to the office to pick up the paperwork (Glendale) and take care of a job in someone else’s area because “they couldn’t do it.”. Yup, after that, I had to go back to OC and try and accomplish as much as I could. All of this was done with a company car. A Ford Tempo.

So I was able to take this car home. Man, I took care of it. However, one morning leaving Glendale and getting ready to get onto the 5 fwy, I lost control of the Tempo at around 30 mph on a misty morning at a turn and slid towards the triangular shaped divider in the middle of the road and slammed that right end, tire first, onto the curb. I remember hearing “Are you okay?” I looked over my left shoulder and a stunned group was looking at me. “Yeah, I’m okay.” Shoot, I put in in reverse, and noted I took out the sign and a big chunk of the curb. I thought, “I lost this job!” I was gone, I had no time to wait for a patrol!!!!

So I’m on the 5 fwy and the steering wheel’s direction is jacked up something fierce and crazy. I’m thinking, there is no way I could even think of trying to work a day like this. Especially with immediate attentions always looming. “Dude, what if you have to go to San Diego!!!!???!!!”

Yup, I called my boss and told him I lost control (told him exactly where and he later went to verify, I lucked out, but also knew I had a little weight as I was the go to guy, being everyone else had families and stuff to do after work) and had done some big damage. The alignment was way off and pulling. He tells me to go take care of it which was at LAX. At Hertz’ rental location. So I take it, gets on a lift and the fella takes a look under and tells me…”You gotta stay off the curbs!”

This tech was able to align it(it sure wasn’t the same though!). IF a 1990’s Tempo can handle a blow like that, surely a 2020’s Tacoma can handle a 10 mph hit.

 

The tire may have internal belt damage from the impact. Starting with the fronts, try swapping them with the spare and see if the issue changes or goes away.

steering knuckle and tie rods are usually the first to bend. they are designed to be the weakest link so it doesn't damage more critical things like the frame.
