    He also said I would have to leave it with him for a day so they could look at it and give me an estimate for what would have to be done to install it, IF they could.

    What!!! DIY, it takes five minutes to remove that air dam with hand tools.

    Just installed the TRD pro skid on my Sr5. Fit perfect after removal of air dam. Looked at aftermarket skids but didn’t like the permanent removal of factory brackets. The TRD pro skid utilize the factory brackets. The TRD SKID is much bigger and sturdier than Sr5 stock skid

    You can just remove the air dam.

    I would probably opt for an aftermarket skid as they will likely be stronger. Also, some have a port to access your oil filter.
