Power steering Leak

Yesterday my power steering started making a noise and today I’ve completely lost power to my power steering. I went under the truck and saw a mess so I scraped and cleaned as much residue as I could. I found that this curved hose coming out of the steering rack and one right above it were rubbing and there’s an indent on the hose above where the power steering fluid is leaking. I’m trying to find what the name of this hose is and if it’s something fairly easy or if it would be best for a mechanic to take care of. Hoping to get some advice or resources on this. RockAuto pressure set by SUNSONG #3401238 for 83.79 that's the one I used years ago and is good. Just a bitch to change the rack end as very tight area you will see/feel but can be done.

Note: Verify correct for your year and model before buying these were my 09 DCSB 4.0 engine 4wd.

Depending on the degree of difficulty getting to the other end of the hose, you might consider cutting the soft line at the leak, inserting a piece of hard line and reconnecting the soft line with double hose clamps on either side.

 

i thought about doing something like that where I and an extra length of the soft hose and push it over the leaking area on the metal tube. Just not sure what the hose size and connector types I need

 

Ah. so it is the hard line that is leaking. Looks like the leak is very close to the end of the existing soft line - can you find, i.e push or bend the line, to gain a little length and just clamp beyond the leak? If not, get a scale down there and measure the OD of the hard line. NAPA will have a variety of hoses to chose from. As for connectors, all you need are good quality hose clamps. If all you can find are the typical screw driven type then use two per side. That system is not particularity high pressure.

 

It’s the hard line right before the soft line we’re the two hard line meet. The leak is at the hard line right above the curved hard line. Thanks I’ll stop by Napa get what I need
