Yeah, this entire video is trash talk and absolutely worthless. This is the stereotypical type of content created by people that have no idea what they are talking about. Tell me you know nothing on automotive lighting without telling me you know nothing.

Using an integrating sphere as your only measured unit of measurement is exactly what every horrible LED company does. No measured metrics of focus, output intensity, lux, candela. Zero measurements of actual performance that matters. Just subjective ones based on a short range wall shot highly influenced by light color temp. Yes, absolutely pathetic trash.

This is just the hype of making Tacoma Videos. If you want any good knowledge off YouTube, find a more credible channel. Much success brother

This is one of the first threads I was into when I got on Tacomaworld. I just got my 2019 in Germany and wanted to upgrade my headlights. I went from DYI retrofit, to LED, and finally ended up with XB Headlights. This thread is killer to say the least

The XBs are decent, but lack critical uplight for down road visibility. OEM LED is the way to go for best performance for replacement assemblies.

Having used them for over a year now, I would 100% agree that they are good headlights, but they have much room for improvement. I would also say that the high beam could be enhanced. I prefer a broader cast of light instead of a straight beam.

Output intensity is good, but you can see in the reviews that there is no uplight on the Morimotos so you are very visually restricted by the low beam, unlike the OEM units that cast uplight beyond the low beam cut off like every OEM lamp. The high beam is also very weak and forward facing vs the OEM LED high beam that casts a very broad flood pattern with hot spots to punch down road. In short, the Morimotos offer good intensity performance, but severely lack the optical engineering of an OEM lamp.

When I was in the market for new headlights, the OEM LED ones weren't available. The XBs were considered the "newest/bestest" thing since sliced bread. I remember installing them and going for a test drive (before I adjusted them), and it was almost impossible to drive with them. Once I adjusted them, it was better, but even with them correctly adjusted, you can't see too far in front of you.

If you have the V1 Morimotos, those did beat the OEM LEDs as 1st to to market. The reason you can't see too far is because of that lack of uplight, the low beam effectively blinds you with the high contrast cut off and no uplight beyond the cut off, which literally every OEM manufacture requires. Making the Morimoto lights fail OEM compliance requirements. Then the Toyota OEM LEDs came out, and not only did they provide vastly better visibility, they were also brighter than the V1 Morimoto LEDs, delivering a severe blow to Morimoto. Morimoto was quick to respond with their V2 units, but they didn't address any of the critical flaws in their lamps, they just made them brighter. This is the byproduct of using cheap off the shelf overseas lighting parts vs USA made OEM lighting components from the highest quality lighting brand on that market.

To take a step back though, these are all engineered lighting products we are discussing, unlike every PnP LED in that horrible video from the original post.

That's correct; I have the V1 XBs. I couldn't agree more with choosing OEM, but since I botched my DIY retrofit, I was in need of a fix. Besides, being in Germany at the time, craigslist isn't an option. I'm still pretty satisfied with the lights and will use them until they give out. However, to be honest, I wouldn't recommend them if you have the option to buy OEM.
