I took it to Kohls today to ship back. They handle that for free. The replacement should ship shortly. I was ready to just get my money back, but after this discussion decided to give them another try. Thanks!

I took a good look at the spacer before boxing things up. It looks like the holes are properly spaced, but I didn't measure with calipers, so can't be 100% sure. I am sure the bolts didn't screw in smoothly - they went in ok, then bound for a turn or two, then smooth, then bound. That could be metal shavings in the threads, but now I'll never know. Screwing them in then out did not clear the problem as I would expect. This does seem more like the wrong pitch screws going into the holes. Very close, but not quite right. The other thing I noticed is that the washers were a bit large - they touched when tightening the bolts, and may have pushed the bolts out from being straight. When I get the new one I'll take a good look at the washers and get smaller ones if needed.

I'll let you know the results when I get the replacement, probably early next week.

When I threaded them initially, it was a little harder to turn by finger halfway through, there were some shavings. I like doing this, cause sometimes paint or powder coating gets into the threads. On the next pass, I used copper anti-seize and it went in smooth.

Hopefully the replacement set they send over is better.

Got the replacement, started assembling it today. As you described, the spacer holes were a bit tight. I reamed one out a bit - that gave plenty of space for both bolts to fit properly. I then bolted the arm onto the body - it fit perfectly, torqued just right. Then I looked at the workbench and noticed the spacer. Aarghhhhh!!! Disassembled things, put the spacer in place, re-torqued. I love the sound and feel of the torque wrench hitting the mark. I'm waiting for things to cool down outside before the next step. Mid 90s is just way to hot for outdoors work.

This one looks to be a keeper. Thanks for the encouragement!

Put them in your Amazon cart and do a save for later so you can keep an eye on the price. They go down below $40 every now and again.
