It's my first time breaking this part and I have a few questions. It appears I've broken my CV (see video below). I have a +2 long travel kit from Total Chaos so I can't swap in a stock CV from Napa because it's not long enough.

I'm at my cabin with limited tools and access to parts. Is it possible to remove the broken CV, tie off the boot and drive 90 highway miles home?

It looks like you have more problems then just a torn boot. But i can say that if its just torn boot, youll be fine to drive it. I had an outter boot torn and drove like that for 6 months. By thd time i got around to swapping in the new axle most of the gease was sprayed on the inside of my fender and not on the joint. Never had a prob with it clicking or binding up on me.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
You have to leave the outer stub shaft into the wheel in order to keep the bearing from falling out. The inner portion that appears broken is irrelevant. It doesn’t appear as though it is going to go anywhere and broke inside the front diff. I would just leave as is and drive out in 2WD. If you have to go 4 or 3WD if locked up front then I would tread lightly or get the broken piece out of the front diff to avoid damaging spider gears.

What were the conditions that caused it to break? Im curious.

They have 230,000 miles on them. I was driving an intermediate trail with a few steep and bumpy hill climbs.
