JD Power 2023 APEAL study shows buyers are less satisfied.

    https://www.hagerty.com/media/news/...ner-satisfaction-for-second-consecutive-year/

I thought the increase in price could be a correlation to the decline, which could be a factor. Even Tesla shows a decline from 22, Tesla has also cut prices since last year. Again customers don't like their in car infotainment systems. Maybe customers have too great of expectations for their new vehicles?

Dodge does pretty well in this segment along with Ram. Do people find V8 sedans and coupes, and V8 and Diesel pickups the most appealing new vehicles?

One definitely gets less bang for buck these days and the QC isn't what it was pre-pandemic.

Everything we buy now is overpriced garbage

Lots of people hate up to date nanny state vehicles that track you and record everything you do.

I'm one of them. It's past convenience and well into the control stage now.

FWIW, it's one reason I won't do GPS mapping using a vehicle entertainment system, I'll stick to my Garman portable ones.

How else are corporations supposed to illegally sell all your data to any paying 3rd party??
CEOs and directors need their $100M bonuses!

They use your phone.............;) We give them so many ways to track us it's not even funny. It's also why I don't use my phone for mapping and directions. Garmin, pay cash, no one knows who went where, when, and how. [other then all those ''traffic'' cameras]

Pricing has led me to keep my Tacoma despite the fact I'm really looking heavily into a 3/4 ton diesel due to a growing family and changing needs. Pricing on the RAM diesels, specifically the HD trucks, is out of this world. 2-3 year old trucks, asking 8-12k over MSRP... insane.

With the increased prices and nanny state devices I've decided that when I replace my daily driver I will buy a classic resto mod.
Why spend 50-60 grand on a appliance when you can buy something fun.

I agree with you ,why pay $60000 for a Tesla when you can buy a1970 Datsun 510 BRE or 240z for less than half the price and have something cool. Just have to find one.

I am very satisfied with my 3rd Gen especially so jumping back and forth from my 1st Gen.

Rides better, more power while getting better mpgs, interior is nicer, do like the infotainment screen. Great for seeing congestion areas to avoid during the commute, and great for exploring the back roads. Could be a little bigger actually. As for the manufactures and government tracking us…if we are using the internet does it really matter? Only way not to be tracked is to give up technology altogether and march out into the wilderness and disconnect from everything, even then can be tracked by drones or satellite. Can’t get away from it.

The only thing I don’t like is how garish styling has become, looks are subjective though. At the end of the day does it really matter? New vehicles sure do beat having to mess with carburetors and riding on spring boards.

I always wanted a 240z w/ motor swap. Had a 240sx, two 300zx TT's...but never anything from the before the 90's. Some of those 240z cars are badass. But man, coming from someone who has done the classic car thing...they're a shit ton of work. Not sure I want to revisit that again.

    Just read the article.
In general, I'd agree about lack of satisfaction and interest in new cars. I even made a post about this a few years ago on here when I was searching for a new toy. And I'm still not pumped about any recent sports cars or trucks.

New vehicles assume a heavy amount of computer literacy on the part of the user. Yet we see plenty here who don't even read the owners manual and struggle to learn how all the buttons work.

I think many folks prefer simple. And many who love the gee whiz are far from being able to afford it.

And the complexity of the systems leaves owners at the mercy of the dealerships and the frustration that goes with that.

I want to be able to put a 60 month loan on a car and pay it off in less than 40. That's my limit. 50 grand for a plastic decked midsized truck is stupid. 90 grand for a full size is stupid.

...referring to the survey, I'm not surprised that the infotainment apps scored low. Most owners are looking at their 85 month loans and thinking to themselves "this car will be obsoleted faster than my thousand dollar Iphone." Clap to the beat: I. don't. want. my. car. to. have. apps. Its been a known historic trend that carmakers suck horribly at software. Find any 10 year old car with a nav unit and tell me that it doesn't feel like its operating on 30 year old firmware. Compared to the user interfaces that we see on our phones and laptop computers, without exception automotive screen-UI is both ancient and nonsensical. On that note, find any new car, including the 2024 Tacoma, that has an interior where the big ugly screen isn't an afterthought to design. Its been 10 years, we are on the second generation (and in a few cases, 3rd generation) of models with screens. And yet we still don't have interior design that makes it look seamless?

The last paragraph is what really pulls back the curtain to the study. The highest ranking brand is Jag, followed by Land Rover and Porsche. a.k.a., all the brands that have the shortest lease/trade-in turnover cycles. The brands with the longest turnover are the ones that should be really paying attention here. Dear Toyota - no I will not be buying a truck that is priced in the same bracket as a luxury car. It's a damn Toyota.
