I saw two rare Chevys at a car show today. A 1 of 1 Yenko Stinger convertible, and a 1 of 5-ish Lister Corvette.



Then there was this delicious Chrysler 300. Jet-age fins, tunnel-ram hemi, push-button wizardry.

 

Dam that’s bad. Hope they are ok

 

That used to be a LX470 (or something like that). Looks like the baby and cell phone survived.

Check this out. When I was a teenager in the late 1970’s I lived in Northern Colorado on a mountain top community with only about 6 houses built on it. My neighbor next to me was very secretive and I never saw him much. One day I see him driving this crazy customized truck that was Pearl white with purple scallops. I stopped him and he told me it was a famous truck called the Dream Truck. I only saw him one other time driving it. I wish I had taken photos. He moved away a year or so later. I didn’t realize what I had seen until later in life. Here it is, the infamous Dream Truck.

Unreal. Wow.

 

Looking at the history of that truck I must have seen it right after its restoration which was in 1980. I guess some famous hot rod legends got together and worked on and built this truck out of many different trucks. It was shown at many hotrod shows and presented in many magazines. Somewhere along the line it was totaled then restored again and brought back to its former beauty. Crazy that it was in a garage right next to me for at least a couple years in the early 1980’s.

I knew what I had seen but could never prove it until the internet came along and one day it dawned on me to look it up. I couldn’t believe my eyes when there before me was the exact truck I had seen decades earlier.

This is amazing. Fiberglass body vehicles traveling by train uncovered. “This is how we did it back then son”.

 

Every time I look at a picture like this all I can think of is how many of the cars in the image have been crushed... and how much I would have liked to save just one.

 

I remember seeing Chevy Vega's shipped vertically on the train cars.

 

Saw this little V8 Vega yesterday

 

Mid 1990’s my girl and I were driving back to San Diego from LA. Coming down the 5 we came upon a double decker semi truck car hauler. Every slot was filled. 8 vehicles in total and all were 1960’s-70 Shelby Mustangs. My girl was driving and I made her slow down next to it so I could get a photo which I did. I’ll find that printed photo one of these days. The crazy part is a week later I dropped in to a local San Diego classic car dealer and there sat an orange 1970 Shelby. I talked to the manager and he said it was definitely the one I saw on the car hauler. It just arrived a few days earlier from an auction. I don’t know where all the other ones went. Crazy sight though.
