It's not totally clear but it sounds like you are experiencing the clutch pedal squeak/creak issue which has been discussed many times. You can either lubricate the clutch pedal yourself, have the it replaced per the TSB, or turn up the music.

Mostly 340,000 miles of wear on the '96. A sharp looking Gasshole for the '21
Thanks - One of my guesses was a unlubbed bushing. I'm at 32K miles so the dealer might do it under warranty... I'm not sure the clutch would cooperate whine for them. This definately matches the symptoms. As a side note - I approach clutch problems carefully - my rest in peace billion mile '96 had a slave cylinder wear out and it let the clutch out while I was at a red light. That was almost tragic.

So, I figure in about 12 months we'll have a decent feel for whether or not T4R in MT is a possibility. I'm thinking maybe 10% chance it happens? It'd really mess up my math from 3 years ago where I figured buying 3rd gen MT used was the best way to get into MT before they die off. But with the 4th gen retaining MT it seems like there's really no risk of that so now it becomes a question of "what's the best MT" given I already have the s-box MT to f around with.

If you get a chance I’d love to read your impressions of the 2024 Taco MT. It’s not a serious consideration for me but I’m definitely curious how it compares to 3rd Gen.

thanx! The front bumper is custom and was built when I had the Trd pro skid on so the bottom is curved to fit that skid. Now I have the rci skid which bolts up to a lower position. And the fiberglass is fiberwerx 6” fender and bedside with milspec bedliner

I saw an article today on doityourself.com titled 'How Often Should Clutch Fluid be Changed?'

In the section Fluid Change Intervals - 'The interval for changing clutch fluid will vary greatly between vehicles and drivers, along with environmental factors. If the system is not opened up to the atmosphere for checking purposes, it can be a long time and many miles between changes.

EXAMPLE: The author has a 23-year-old vehicle with 244,000 + miles on it and the fluid has never been checked or changed, but the clutch still works very well. The vehicle is operated in a semi-arid environment and does not get exposed to moisture very often.

Maybe the author has a Tacoma. I never had a manual transmission vehicle until this Tacoma with mileage more than 150k - so I've
never considered changing the fluid. Hopefully the fluid will be good until it's time to get a new clutch, but there's no sign of that yet.

I’ve never changed clutch fluid in my life, but it doesn’t sound like a bad idea if you have the time.

Some cars and trucks don't even have clutch fluid, but last time l changed fluid in one was during a clutch and slave cylinder replacement though.

I mean bleeding. The clutches on these trucks is super easy and it just uses DOT4 brake fluid

Force of habit, for me. I normally flush brake fluid every couple of years, using ATE super blue and their amber DOT 4 fluids, changing the color every time, so it's easy to see when lines are running new fluid. I do the clutch at the same time. Simple peace of mind maintenance. Learned this on my BMWs, and applied it to all of my vehicles, since.
