I got a set of 265 75 16 KO2’s (E Load) installed from Costco the other day and they’ve been great. The ride really didn’t change much from my Toyo AT3’s.
The KO2’s are smooth up to 85mph which is the fastest I’ve gone so I’m very happy with that.
I did notice that the amount of balance weight on my front right tire was significantly more than the others. 8.75oz total.
My question is if I should take it back to Costco and have them rebalance to try to get the weight down? Or, do I not ruin a good thing and just let it be since I’m currently riding silky smooth.
I’m headed on a 1200 mile road trip this weekend so I’m not inclined to do anything significant until I return.
    Thoughts?

If they’re rolling smooth let them be.

you already have like the heaviest tires on earth on your truck. What do you stand to gain by messing with the balance weight? My K02s shook hard to the point of me replacing them. If yours work, consider yourself lucky.

FYI: Of all five of my 285/75/17 "E" load rated KO2's on Method 701's the one that took the most only need 2.5 ounces, two needed 0.

Good Luck, I had to have mine re balanced about every three weeks until I finally gave up and had them replaced with only having them on the truck for about 8 months.

Thanks for the responses…KO2’s are hit and miss to say the least. I’ll have a much better feel for what they’re all about after this next adventure.
I’ll roll with them as is for now and fingers crossed they aren’t the nightmare they seem to be for so many on TW and beyond.

I am no expert, but I believe anything over 3oz is considered to be a bad tire(and/or wheel). Yes it can be be balanced to be smooth (which seems to be your case), but you just spent a lot of money on that tire. As everyone said, consider yourself lucky. Hopefully Mr. Discount Tire will chime in on this 8.75oz weight and give their expert opinion.

    Thanks!
    Here’s how they balanced:
    LF - 1.00oz
    RF - 8.75oz
    LR - .50oz
    RR - 4.75

I am also far from an expert but I’d say that right front tire is out of round or something. Those differences are wild.

They could start with taking the three worst and remounting them in a different position on the rim. Or try a different shop. The individual doing the balance is key to success.

Let them wear down to the next rotation before rebalancing, but if its not vibrating, leave it.

For sure, that’s definitely my plan. Man, reading all the negative reviews about KO2’s on TW kinda has me freaked out. I thought they were solid tires and I see a ton of them on Toyotas here in MT, ID and WA.
So far the ride has been really close to my SL Toyo ATIII’s in the 265 75 16’s.
I guess time will tell as we head into this next fall/winter.
One thing for sure, they are almost as quiet if not quieter than my Toyos on the highway. Very smooth.

I’ve gotta say, I’ve been driving these this past week and they’re awesome. Coming from the SL Toyo AT3, (which is an awesome tire as well) I’m totally loving the KO2’s.
They feel softer than than the Toyos, run very quiet and smooth and I’ve got the PSI at 37 cold. They are stiffer and you feel the road more since they’re the E Load but that’s to be expected.
A few short highway trips and at 82 it’s a very nice ride.
The more people I talk to and the more KO2’s I scope out on rigs in town it sounds like these tires do take a little more weight to balance.
I’m also seeing this first hand when I check other KO2’s out in parking lots etc. People probably think I’m a freak for crawling all around their rigs checking for tire weights LOL!
I say go for it…but that’s just me.

I run my 285/75/17 "E" load at 25psi cold and they have been wearing even. I could not imagine running "E" load at 37psi. I did not even run the previous Cooper AT3's SL load rated at 37 I ran those about 30-32.

Good to know. I’m still playing with PSI. I’m slowly airing down and the ride gets incrementally better each time. Thanks for the tip.

Not being an off roader I have to ask, why Load Range "E" tires ?

I ran load range "E" tires on my F 250...

How about the Goodyear "Dura Trac", I know they come in LR "C". They any good? I use them as a winter tire here in north east NY and they work for me.
