Looking at the Bilstein 5100 set on the 2in clip and a set of 1in blocks in the rear. Anyone running this setup? Thoughts and what size tires. 17 Sport.

I’m working on saving for mine.

I started on the rear since I haul/ tow often.

I opted for the Icon 3 pack AAL and super springs with 1 and 1/2 inch spacers.

It gave me 1.5 inch of lift in the rear, better ride, and functional load support.

The black super bumps add 1800 pounds of load support. Definitely better than what a block can offer. Have fun!

I would go with an add a leaf on the rear instead of the blocks

If you use a block to lift the rear, the stock leaf springs can become deformed or warped over time. Installing an AAL would increase the amount of weight you can add before the back sags.

I used to have a 1” block in the rear and I never had any issues but I only had it for about a year before I switched to the Icon AAL. If you don’t put much weight in the rear, a block would probably be fine.

I have a shell on my truck and also use it for long trips where the bed is loaded down so I switched to an AAL.

Another vote for building up rear correctly! I wish I would have,, I went cheap blocks and had to g back and do it right,,, just like I was warned.
You’ll most like do it eventually anyways. I’d at the very least AAL,,, as mentioned if you intend to add a fiberglass topper, tow, haul. Personally; I'd go straight to a whole spring pack. I’m not the anti-OEM guy around here, I like mostly stock, but the OE spring pack is a joke for much more than groceries.

The 2nd clip and a one inch block is okay. Been on a one in block 4 years and no issues, but anything over 2 is pushing it. Might want to go up to the 4th clip and one inch in the rear for a slight rake. Thats what I had then went to the 5th for a more leveled/ever so slight rake when I went to 285s. The 5100 are a great shock.

In this case you are raising the front of the truck 1", and raising the rear 2". If you want a perfect level truck, just do the 1" in front, and leave the rear stock.

I've got the 2/1" lift, (1/2'' rear block), and it sits perfectly level.

I guess it depends on your needs.

I have 1 in block in rear and 5100s. Shop did mine. When I look at shocks I think I can see two slots visible on the top of each 5100 so I assume they used 3rd down. I have almost one inch rake rear to front, but that’s what I wanted. Looks and rides great. I have 265/75/16 tires.IMG_6872.jpg

I have 5100s all around front on middle notch for level look. Added airbags to help with loads and still have the following issue. When going over speed bumps or some intersections the rear end feels like it slams against the bump stops even when unloaded. Is this a common Tacoma issue!

Sumo bump stops works well. I run them front and back
