I’m gonna ask a really dumb question. I can research this elsewhere, but here’s a good a place as any.

What’s with the air compressors people are putting under the hood? What function do they serve?

    Blast away

I still want to hear from someone who has one of these pumps. No decision yet.

It you press them (and sometimes massage them in) they will stick to the headliner.

Pulled my blown motor out, and got the junkyard one loosely bolted in. Probably finish the rest later in the week, and hopefully be driving it next weekend

Lots of folks air down their tires for off roading, it helps to provide a smoother ride on rough trails, helps with added traction and less likely hood of a puncture.

Once you’ve aired down for a trail, you have to air back up for the road to avoid a dangerous situation with underinflated tires at highway speeds.

Air compressors, like the ARB units you’ll typically see, are a faster, more reliable way to air back up (compared to a standard cigarette lighter plug in air compressor).

My pregnant wifey airing up…because it’s so easy and fast with a good setup.

    IMG_7490.jpg

Some also use it for air lockers, air tools and air suspension, amongst other things.

Put on the last of the armour today. Had some help with the bumper and then installed the lights afterwards. Just waiting on a harness for the light bar and then it will all work!

Also, I just spliced the fog lights into the stock wiring. No power source, no fuse. Just two wires for each of the fog lights and I just combined them and "shoved" them into the stock wiring that is for the stock dog harness. Maybe they could be brighter? Seem blinding to me :)

Wow. I expected to see some snow up that high still with the winter we had. I hope to do Webster some day, but your experience is reminding me to do it with friends. I'm under the impression it's tougher than Imogene.
Time to hunt down a thread of good Colorado trails; time to explore some more (safely).

Glad that you and your truck are out safely.

    lol Yes :D
It’s a modern traditional Slipjoint by LionSteel
Made in Italy designed after the Barlow pattern. M390 blade steel and it’s a great slicer definitely a handy every day carry. I actually collect knives so I really enjoy them.

Here’s a beautiful fixed blade made by Bark River called a Bravo 1 with Crosscut Mammoth and Mosaic pins.

I’ve learned pictures can be very deceiving and I bet getting that truck out of there without rolling it was much more challenging then it appears. I’m sure that angle is a lot more steep than the picture dictates.

Oof. That bug bit me too…
That lionsteel is slick and I’m a sucker for mammoth fixies. That BRK is gorgeous!
I have a lil fat Busse in mammoth tooth. The local stabbery put some blue mammoth ivory on one of their house blades and redid the inlays on my sebenza with something similar. Same place also does insane ano work. They collaborate with an artist to make stuff like that titanium scaled bug out.
No safe queens! Use ‘em or lose em!

In an attempt to keep it vaguely truck related here’s my ghetto diy molle mount for my truck knife while I wait for a rigid panel to come back into existence:
