Hi everyone - hoping to get some guidance here. I was on a roadtrip back from Oregon a couple weeks ago in 40 degree (104 for you Americans) and while passing someone on the highway there was a squeal from the front of the car and suddenly my AC cut out. The AC light started flashing and it stopped working from that point on, which meant a sweaty drive back to Canada.

I got my truck into the dealership shop today and they let me know that the AC compressor and condenser unit both need replacing. Total quote for parts and labour comes out to $2,500 CAD after taxes.

After calling some other shops in the area it looks like I can knock off 30-40% of that amount by going with aftermarket parts and a 3rd party shop. They were recommending Denso as a brand to move forward with.

Would love some guidance from this group - has anyone done this kind of repair 3rd party and had good results? What brands did you end up installing?

    Thanks!
