Let’s put it this way, If I had given into the general panic and pessimist concerning the problems when the 2016’s came out, I wouldn’t be sitting in a truck with 187,000 miles and countless happy memories with friends and family. Don’t let the internet spoil it for you.

    You probably are……
I am bad for doing that too.

My grandparents are having a whole home backup generator put in at their home. Since I’m the one that looks after their home and takes care of the place for them, I started reading about the system they are having put in.

I’ve seen a couple reviews saying the oil fill cap comes loose. And I’m already “worried” about it.

It is all in our head man. I wouldn’t worry about it until “it happens”. Which is basically all you can do. Let it happen, or worry about it.

I’d buy the truck and let it leak or die on me, before I’d worry about it.

I believe it was Jordan Peterson that said, “90 of what we worry about never happens”. You’re good my man.

    Don’t worry about it.

Because COVID shut down some dealers, halted production nationwide, had more people staying in more than ever, I mean there are tons of reasons why.

It's the Tundra that gets the engine replacements, the Tacoma is fine. I don't think it's a widespread issue with Tundra either.

A 23 will be more reliable than a 19 and it will have a 5 year powertrain warranty.
Why are you crying about it ?

I appreciate everyone's comments. I am praying for no issues and that my Tacoma has the reliability I am used to.

I went down that worm hole too before purchasing, but in all reality Toyota makes some great products and they've had many years to correct most issues. The last years of a model usually are the best due to all kinks being worked out over the years. That's one of the main reasons I went with a 23 over waiting on the 24 to come out. I'm sure just like the new tundra the new tacoma will have issues at the beginning that I just don't wanna deal with.

Other than age and use differences, why would the ‘19 be less reliable? :notsure:

…and when you take system complexity into account, my ‘17 is probably more reliable than any other model year after that.

Age/use so no other reason all other things being somewhat equal. 4 years is not insignificant.
