    Hey Guys,

I have a '21 TRD Offroad v6 (AT) with 25k kms. About 1k kms ago the truck started making this weird knocking/rattling noise when i accelerated between 1800-2000 rpm and then over 3000 rpm - basically under hard acceleration. The noise seems to go away after 3300 rpm.

After scouring many threads and checking for loose exhaust sheilds, cat substrates and suspension parts I was able to locate it around the pcm/ecu area.

I installed a tundra throttle body and spacer around 5000 km and had no issues. Any idea what it might be? Could it be a faulty crankshaft sensor messing up the ecu?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I am left with no choice but have the stealership diagnose it.

    Thanks in advance

I assume you have a smart phone.
Download fusion obd app(free), buy inside the app toyota pids for your year($16). Amazon has adapters for different OS for 15-20. Veepeak is one of them.
Once installed app and obtain toyota parameters package, build a simple dashboard to display knock, misfires, etc. Drive around and see if your issues reflect on the dashboard.

    I am confused.
Are you saying a part is physically loose and rattling?
Or is the engine making a rattling sound?

A bad crank sensor wouldn’t make a part come loose and rattle?

When i accelerate there is a rattling noise coming from under the steering wheel right where the ECU and fuses are.

Ecu on the passenger side, fuse boxes on the driver side.
Crankshaft position sensor will cause limp mode or stalled engine.
    Any other symptoms?

No loss of power or drag on engine while acceleration- just that rattling sound from the driver side footwell. My apologies i didn’t know the ecu was located near passenger side, with all the wiring underneath i assumed it was on the driver side.

i will record the sound and post it tomorrow.

    here it is.....

This is while accelerating from dead stop all the way to 3000 rpm and you can notice the rattling go away as soon as I crossed 3000 rpm.
