Hey everyone. I'm new here. I bought a 23 Tacoma Trail new about six weeks ago. Really loving this thing so far. Been driving it only back and forth to work and did a 1000 mile break in oil change. I noticed some metal shavings in the filter housing. Generally small, some small flakes and a couple pieces half moon shaped but about the size of a childs pinky nail.
This didn't concern me that much, but when dumping the pan I noticed copper colored fine particles. Is this normal or should I be concerned. Didn't think to take any pics. I can't believe Toyota wants to go 10K on new oil without changing.
What is y'alls experience with this on these trucks?

And that's the reason I do my first change at 500 miles.................

Inspect oil, fresh filters, 2nd change at 5k/6 months should be free of anything but oil, if you're still picking out casting swarf and seeing metal, I'd take it in and bring along the debris.
