Make sure you look at mounted tire height.

I measured my Coopers XLT after 10K miles and they're 32.25". Advertised 33.8".

The wife and I are on our 4th wedding anniversary trip atm at a tiny rolling hills, river valley state park watching eagles soaring about, but while we are gone my local shop has my 2020 DCLB...........

I dropped her off to the shop with 4 285/75/17 BFG KM3s in the back, mounted on17" Method racing MR312s. Hopefully to have the new RadFlow coils, UCAs and leaf packs installed, as well as the CMC and pinch.
Don't want to let the wife know how excited I actually am to get back home!

Seeing 11 different eagles in one trip (5 mated pairs of Golden Eagles hunting together and a lone huge Bald Eagle) is helping get it off my mind however.

Can't wait to see the pics. 285/75R17 is the best looking size tire on the Tacoma in my opinion

Shop just called and said the truck is finished!
Lift, leaf packs, UCAs, coils, CMC and pinch done, and the 285/75/17s apparently clear without rubbing, even on their cement incline.
    Can't wait!
    I'll post pics this weekend.

Came home from the trip and immediately went to the bank to get the payoff for the truck (OUCH) and went from there to the shop to pick Sandy up.......
I was not disappointed! She rides and drives immaculately, if not a tad stiff, as I have not added the sliders, bumper, winch, rear bumper or trailer tounge weight yet.
Also it actually fits in the garage too!! By about 3/4"to an inch, but it fits.

Super happy as the 285/75/17s fix ALL of the looks of the truck proportion wise, as I have always felt the LBs look a bitt too long and low stock.

Just flexed her our a bit, lock to lock and no rubbing to be seen, even when stuffed and locked. Nice!

I ended up going 295/70/17. Love them, but also no hate for the 285/75’s.

This thread was very helpful. Probably read every post twice before making a decision. Getting my scs wheels delivered this week!!! Now I need a spare wheel. Seems like I heard that FJ cruiser wheels make a good spare. Does it matter if it’s steel or aluminum? I assume they would both fit. What do you guys run for a good functional spare?

Hey BroID, Great looking Tacoma! How have these tires been treating you?

I just pulled the trigger on the same set of 285/75/17 E load. I also have a silver taco and all your pics really helped in showcasing the tires. People should take notes hahaha. You showed both sides in daylight. (While many grab pics during the day, they have the sun behind the vehicle and their wheels and tires just look like shadows.) And you also got good pics of the rear profile and managed to capture the subdued sidewall on the ATIII's. LOL.

Mine will be going on the ubiquitous SCS F5 in the 17x8.5 -10mm offset. So your Black Rhino Boxers are about 2mm more offset than mine should be. What upper control arms are you running? And do you still have your fender lining? Follow up question, was your snorkel optional or required due to fitment and liner removal?

    Well.. that was quick.

I made some calls this morning and ordered 5 285/75/17 Toyo ATIII’s in E load. I am installing my lift this weekend and wanted the tires to see where I’m at for clearance. I have already had a pretty aggressive cab mount chop done, so should be good there. I also have new SPC Light Racing UCA’s ready to go. So hopefully I can get an alignment sorted out for Monday and be good to go.

I was dropping off the SCS F5’s at the shop when I saw a pile of 5 new ATIII’s just coming off a delivery truck and getting checked in. Man these look stout. Their sidewalls look much better in person.

I’m mounting them on SCS F5 in the 17x8.5 -10 offset flavor. What additional items should I expect as far as clearancing these bad boys? I understand a lot of it will have to do with getting the SPC UCA’s set up correctly and a good alignment done, but from there slight plastic trimming and heat gun to plastic manipulation… the CMC and pinch welds have been done in anticipation.

    IMG_1842.jpg IMG_1843.jpg Thanks @Discount Tire!

DT said that they could order them and have them, maybe the same day, and more confidently by the next day. I mentioned that I was installing a lift over the weekend and ideally I would like to have the tires around so I could set the SPC UCA's and get an alignment that would set me up for the new size. They said that I could drop off the wheels and they could mount them when they came in. I came in at lunch time the same day at DT to drop my SCS F5's off when I noticed a pile of large Toyo AT3's stacked up that had just come off a truck. Sweet... I was able to pick them up after work. Ya gotta love that new tire smell. I've been making excuses to go into the garage to smell some big tire goodness after work. I should get things moving soon and report back.

Why didn’t you order a 5th SCS wheel? Helps in case you damage one of the other 4

Because the fitment on these is TIGHT up front when youre really flexin (your mileage may vary, everyone has trimmed to different levels *and im in a different truck lol), i opted for a matching spare. So i know if i get a flat somewhere rough, my spare will clearance in any condition to keep me at 100% capability.

If you toss some wheel with different spec's in there... you may run into minor or major issues. minor being you'd rub if you compressed hard or turned a certain way and got a minor rub (things you could make it home on but would only do so in an emergency), major being your hard rubbing on the UCA and its now a parking brake lol). Tread carefully here, depending on your goals for the spare.

edit again* Just saw youre in a 2001, so things will be even more different for you than a 2nd/3rd gen comparison

Did you do extended bumps? If not it will rub under full compression. My 295/70's are a little shorter and I have some nice wear marks starting on my fender flares.
