On a much lighter note....
Got the truck back and headed to San Marcos Lowe's for a couple pieces of Styrofoam board. Rats. Someone had bought everything in the aisle! So, off to Kyle Lowe's, where I find the last two boards, kind of beat up, but the next only thing there is $45 a sheet, and way too thick for the window. Checking out was a horror - no reg's open, self only. No marks on the boards, and no searchable inventory on the machine. Took 35 minutes for one, then two, then THREE people to get me out of there for $22.70
So, I had enough time for the 3 main pieces today, and DANG! Only a 3* temp rise in the afternoon, while I was going in and out.




So, I'll do the bottom window, and one other panel Thursday with leftovers. And, when I take them down, I will fog the label side with primer. Then, it will be invisible. I'll do an outside shot then, when I take the shade cloth down after mowing.

And, I caught my low budget paint (and tint, and stereo) buddy in his shop that has been shuttered for two weeks. Yep, he's quit. But when he gets done with some family travel, he will need a project, and I happen to have a hood!

Even though the temperature here in the Northern California sacramento valley have been in the high 90’s and 100’s I just read the Mammoth Mountain ski resort here in the Sierras is extending their ski season to August 6th. At the ski lodge they had 715 inches of snow this last winter and much more at the higher elevations. From where I live I can still see snow on the mountain peaks. One of the mountain lakes I fished at a week ago, I drove through some patches of snow getting there. Snow melt is still flowing into our reservoir. Also just saw that they just got Yosemite’s Tioga pass open 4 days ago. It’s the longest it’s ever been closed. It generally opens in late May. The snow fall over Tioga pass road set snow fall records. This is all mind boggling to me. Just thought I’d share.

 

Sorry about your friend, Murray. Dementia is a horrible disease - I have an uncle who is now in a care facility because of it and Lynn's youngest sister has Early Onset Alzheimer's - she's only 55.

 

Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!! The hot weather is coming our way - but that just means temps in the lower 90's and it's only for 2 days.

 

I am having decent luck going through The Maryland Department of Veteran Affairs. Started the process in late April.

Good morning. Mixup with the Qwest blood draw appointment, Quest fault. Other appointment went smooth. Today is pain management day. 08:40 appointment on the other side of Baltimore for a second opinion on the back and a knee injection in the afternoon. Blood draw is rescheduled for tomorrow morning.

Thanks Mark, like I said yesterday it's the cruelest thing that can happen to a person. We all age, I'm greatful for the relative good health my wife and I have. A couple breaks my bride has had and other than CAD, a few joint issues I'm still able to do much of the things I want even though the joint stuff is the main reason I retired. I get to the gym almost every day, not enough range of motion yet to ride, my bike yet close, things are good.

Good Morning Ken. This year the weather has really been odd. We had an extremely mild winter on the East coast and the folks in your neck of the woods got hammered with a lot of snow. It could be a good thing to get the reservoirs full but with that much snow it could also lead to flooding that would be an issue. Have a good one and stay cool.

Glad the wife is feeling a bit better. Finding the right pillow/mattress combination will definitely let the body get a good nights sleep. Hope the firmer pillow helps out.

You have quite the schedule Tom. The hospital my wife worked at as a ("Vampire" ) phlebotomist (sp.) just sold off all their labs to Lab Corp.
It now takes 4 to 7 days to get back the blood test results instead of 1 to 2 days. Times are changing for sure. Have a good day Sir.

Physical therapy has helped me a lot with the many issues I have had. They always know what exercises to get me doing and it's like "Holy Crap" I didn't even know there was a muscle there . But staying the course works out in the long run Murray. Hope you get on the bike soon

Also sad to hear about your friend with dementia Murry, for sure not the best way to go.

Another friend, Bill, called me yesterday, said that he had no energy and was short of breath, Covid????, blockage???, he went to a doctor for a series of tests and the blood work confirmed that he had Lyme disease, Dr. gave him some type of medication and he said he's pretty well back to normal.

WTH, just noticed a mylar balloon in the yard, went out to get it and it has a note attached that says "YOU MATTER---IF YOU FEEL SAD TEXT 570 666 0242, too bad I can't text, anyone want to check it out!

Carl, around here they give an antibiotic for Lymes, Doxycycline. I'm glad your friend doing better. Bugs cause a lot of problems.

Thanks for the well wishes for my friend. He's been dealing with it for about 2 years it's just that it seems to be progressing.

sixtys/wannabes/commisserators. My garage lift decided to 'wander' so yesterday I bolted it to the floor. Drilling 4 holes 7/8" by 3" deep -- took me hours! I don't know if I have really hard concrete or a really poor hammer drill, but it just didn't want to make progress. Beat me up pretty good too, hanging onto that drill all that time. I was so beat that I left a mess and need to head out there this morning to finish up.

My wife's dad developed Alzheimer's in his 60's; it was a long, hard slog for him, us, but most of all his wife, who really took the brunt of it. He went through all of the phases of the horrible disease including confusion, anger, escaping the house (thought he was imprisoned), paranoia, not knowing his own wife. It was a blessing when the end came. His wife was never the same afterwards. It changed her forever.

My mother-in-law also suffered from dementia in her later years. It was tough too, but after having been through it once we were better prepared. Still difficult but at least we had something of a head start.

 

I've stopped using a pillow. Might try that...

 

I don't need a veteran card bad enough to go through that much time and effort. I've been living without it with no issues. My first online effort yesterday said they had no record of me existing. Jeeze, I hope they don't tell the SS administration.
