    It was not to long ago that Toyota had a 60% market share of the then 3 midsized trucks (Toyota, GMC and Ford). Now Toyota has just under 40%, and the midsized market has 7 offerings.

    Watched this link on YouTube from an Austrailian presenter, and aside from the ChatGPT garbage, he presents a number of serious concerns

    Correct me if I'm wrong - but there was about a 10 year period where the Ford Ranger simply didn't exist in the US right? That has to be a large portion of the market...understandable that 20% shifts that way all by itself.

    Also, the Jeep Gladiator came out (which may arguably be geared towards a different buyer, but some midsize truck folks are buying it)...which also accounts for that as well - even if it *only extends the size of the market* - everything else is lowered because of it.

    That said, I don't see any shortage of Toyota Tacomas out on the road, that's for sure. And I don't see any stockpiles of them on lots anywhere.

    It sounds like most import brands aren't doing well in China compared to domestics over there.

    I'm not sure how accurate this is, but let's agree that it's a good estimate. I would say that the drop in 2022 had a lot to do with supply chain issues more than the competition itself. I know that here in the Bay Area, most Toyota dealerships are still pretty much depleted. Knowing that, my feeling is that the Tacoma is still selling consistently.

    All of the legacy automakers are having trouble with selling the ICE-less technology(s). My new technology picks are currently Tesla and BYD.

    Here's your TLDW;

    I watch this guy among others and it is a common theme that legacy automakers are in trouble. China's car buyers want EV's and Toyota doesn't have anything they want. China has changed their air pollution requirements and many current ICE cars can't meet their requirements. Mitsubishi has pulled out of China, and Nissan, VW, and Honda are in trouble. On the other hand Tesla and BYD cars are selling at record numbers.

    The only other off roader I see more than Tacoma is Jeep (and Jeeps seem to be 1-6 ratio). I think Tacoma is fine (maybe Gen 4 not so much).

    Total sales will definitely jump for the Gen 4. The Tacoma's reputation is too strong to take a step back.
