It was definitely the 4. Would not work with either of my Pixels (5 or 7), and the truck did not see anything but Carplay when plugged in.

Have since upgraded to a Pioneer DMH-WC6600NEX so I have no use for an adapter and all the glitchiness from the stock HU even with wired AA is gone.

OP here...I purchased the Motorola MA1 and it's working as intended. I do get a slight issue at times with it not resuming music after a call ends. But has been starting up properly each time I get in the truck.
I wish the clock on AA was bigger. It's tucked down in the bottom right corner and is pretty small to read at quick glance. Maybe someday I'll find a small digital clock to add to the dash board.

Any tips on mounting this? Is the sticky that comes with it not strong or is the mounting location (under the dash) not going to hold any double sided pad?
What have others with this device done to hide it???
This is how I found mine 4 hours after sticking it inside the cubby...

Yup, the sticky stuff is weak! But I have a 6MT so it stays out of the way for me as it is!

I used velcro adhesive and stuck it to the underside of where the plug is. makes it easy to take it out if you need to

I don't have a 2017 but I think it would work on any vehicle that starts up Android Auto when you plug your phone into the dash USB.

You could pop it out of the dash, add one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LZRB1D?ie=UTF8 , and then relocated it to your glove box. Thats what I did.

I have the Carsifi wireless Android auto adapter. I find it decent. I do have an audio dropout once in awhile and on rare occasions it will disconnect from the head unit. Otherwise it's good. It does take 30 to 45 seconds after the head unit is booted up to connect to my phone. There are settings in the app to have it auto start. Mine will nearly always start on the last music app I was using, plexamp and pick up where I stopped in the play list.
Google maps works fine. I can even say hey Google and ask it to navigate somewhere or place a call. I however don't think to use all the voice commands it probably can do. The on screen Android auto is so simple and quick to use for me.

How did you connect to the USB? Did you plug in and run wire behind or connect somehow within the dash? Would like to not have us the actual USB that is in the dash.

I popped the USB port out of the dash. Drilled a hole in the glove box, installed it, and then connected it all inside/behind the dash. You'll have to pull the stereo out to reach it all though. Make sure to tape the connections too so they can't separate. Mines been running like that for over 4 years now with no issue.
