Hey again yall, who's using what gear oil in the w59s? Is redline or whatever my ONLY option?

1st gen - it's got a built engine, a turbo, and waaaaaaay too much to list. 3rd gen - basic-bitch lift, S/C, Pro Wheels
I run Mobil 1 full synthetic in the weight recommended by Toyota. I bang gears and race this truck...no issues that can be attributed to gear oil.

From what I've read gl5 wears the syncros. I've got 2 3rz w59 4x4s and I'm pretty sure they've had gl5 cheapo gear oil in them for about 14 months with no problems and actually one of them smoothed up really well after the change but now I'm paranoid. It's the same feeling that Jumpstart ALL of the preemptive repairs where I fix nothing that is actually broken. If I hear a noise I pull the freaking trucks apart.

They’re harder to find but gl4 is what’s recommended

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I have used shell 85/140 GL-4 in everything for years .

GL-5 will be fine .Coming from China there quality is so hit or miss.

Just where did you read this about GL-5?

I read this on the toyota forums about the gl5. I ordered and received the redline mt90 gl4 but then see negative posts about it lol.
