Good morning PA. Taking the wife's Rav4 to the dealer to check for a possible leak in her moon roof. We got a letter from Toyota to check it out. So, I'll be spending the morning in the city.

 

It's not from the moonroof, it's from the roof rack because they used thin gaskets on the clips that hold it in place but don't seal. Ours leaked bad and they replaced and sealed the holes in the roof where the clips and bolts go through. No leaks since. Gotta be careful because the water gets onto the airbags (making them inoperable) and wiring harness all the way down to the floor boards and corroding them. All of this is free from Toyota so don't let them tell you it's not and try to charge you.

 

I like how it's 97° out and both of my customers are home. And not 1 time they haven't offered me any water. Doing a termite treatment. Been here since 9am. I hate people.

 

Well, apparently I wasted my time taking the car to the dealership - at least according to the rude man behind the counter in the service department. I tried to call the service dept. when I got the letter but, as always, I was sent to a voice mail which never returns my call. So I called my salesman who sent me to somebody. I explained the car wasn't leaking but I wanted it checked out. She set me up with an appointment which led to me standing there being reprimanded by the service dept. desk man who told me: "Read the paper. We will only look at it if it's leaking." 31.5 miles down the Parkway West during morning rush hour, dealing all the assholes that ride it (including some guy in a big SUV from NY who rode on the shoulder, then cut in front of me going down the Greentree hill) for nothing.

 

We actually put a cooler out on garbage day when it's this hot with bottles of cold water for the sanitation crews. Her ex husband drives garbage truck so she knows how those guys appreciate the gesture and it's cheap enough on our part so why not.

 

Which dealership did you go yo? I deal with Brewer out in Moon twp. Just tell them it's leaking. They have to replace the grommets regardless if it's leaking or not. Mainly for high roof racks like on my Adventure model but also on low roof racks.

 

So here's the kicker. Just got done with the job about 15mins ago. Lady tells me she doesn't have enough money to pay for the job. And hands me a small bottle of Gatorade that was outside temperature. Fu*king people

 

Got 1 more termite job left. Thankfully it's just a detached garage and shouldn't take very long than I'm done for the day.

Rohrich. I made the mistake of being honest by saying it's not leaking. I then asked if they could just replace them since i was there, with a scheduled appointment, but I was told they would not unless they were leaking. Too late now to come up with a new tale. I just wish I would have been advised about the conditions before I made the trek. It seems I can never talk to anybody in the service dept. The guy at the service desk threw the salesman and whatever other employee scheduled my appointment under the bus when I told him that they said, "let's bring it in and see if there's a problem," by responding, "they don't know what they are talking about." Ok. Then next time I call how about somebody in the service dept. pick up or return my call after I leave a message to do so? I kept the paper. Apparently it's good for 10 years, although like you mentioned earlier, waiting until it leaks isn't the best idea.

 

Wow. How do you request a service then not pay for it?
