Perhaps the bushing has already failed. I’ll have to see if I still have the picture of the Hitachi that came off my Taco. You can tell it was toast and not doing its job. (Going to go see if I still have it in the cel photo trash).

    It trashed it already.

What I was going to show was how the sleeve was not centered. The bushing failed at the top side. I would guess that’s what happens anyway, but I’d say for the life of the bushing.

If I remember anywhere near vagueness, my SR5 started doing it around 12,000 miles or somewhere near that mark.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I am gonna have to look into this on my FJC. My shit is creaking up front! Thanks for posting :)

For the longest time, I just thought this was suspension popping. Now I know that this is the cause of the sound. Wild. I just stumbled across this because of @JasonLee

Wow searching steering noise and then stumbling across loose steering threads brought me here. I recently swapped my 2019 SR5 with 2022 TRD OR yellow bilsteins and have been hearing this noise when changing directions at slow speeds like when I pull out of my driveway or back in. Will have to buy these bolts and try this over the weekend!

*Update: these bolts were never installed. I bought them but was not convinced this was the issue for me upon further inspection. Took my truck to a Japanese Import shop (local Toyota shops around me told me it was nothing they could identify which meant it wasn't safety relevant) 6 months later still dealing with the click noise and found my right LCA rear bushing had some rust indicating metal on metal contact. Replaced the LCA and no more sound.

23 off road with almost 10k miles, and I'm getting a click in the front end going over speed bumps, making turn in a parking lot, etc.

I checked the lower shock mounting bolts with a torque wrench, and they are tight. I can reproduce the click by standing on the tube step and rocking the truck. I had the skid plate off, and my wife seems to think it's coming from the sway bar bushings. It sounds like I'm getting a click on right and left side of the truck.

Taking the truck in for it's 10k service soon, will see what the dealer finds, and what they do about it.

Anyone got a video demonstrating the noise? I think I’m suffering from that initial click noise leaving my driveway every day

I'll try to capture the sound and share it.

I've got 11K miles but my '22 has been doing it since day 1. I can consistently reproduce it backing out the driveway. Mentioned it during the 10K mile service at the dealership and the tech thinks it's the cat shield.

I'll get around to replacing these bolts but I appreciate the info posted here!

Glad I found this thread... I hear this daily going to work because there are a few speed bumps. Subbed to remind myself to fix this asap.

How do you easily swap the bolt after removing the wheel? Place a floor jack under the lower control arm and then remove the bolt?

I was able to record the clunk backing out the driveway.

Curious if this is similar to what y'all are experiencing.

My click turned out to be the left front body mount. It's being replaced tomorrow morning.

Yes, that’s what I did. I also used a 1/2” extension to take its place while taking it off. Most of the compression is gone. Yes, play it safe and slow. I let things settle before “going in.”

I can tell ya’ this. With the stock suspension, I would hear clunks/pops at Hungry Valley when articulation was somewhat gnarly.

    Having switched to this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0791LMT4C?ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

and the lower srut bolt (new 6112’s- new bushing) those noises have disappeared.

I solved sway bar noises by throwing the whole thing in the bin.

I have a single click on a slow downward travel. The truck only has stock suspension (SR5).
Im going to try the bolt replacement and see if that fixes anything.

I can confirm that after the OEM bolt swap, I have 100% had the same noise many times, just not quite as often as I did before. A hard bump absolutely gets the clink noise. I still think it's related to the super low torque spec on the strut bolt. No vehicle I've ever driven has ever had the strut bolt be even close to that low. It's a questionable number considering that the leaf spring u-bolts are also supposed to have a pretty low torque spec.
