I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
I'm guessing this is a no, but is there any way to disable the Distance to Empty warning that keeps popping up when the gas light comes on?

It's a little distracting, and highly inaccurate. The computer says I have 11km left, when I have enough fuel to easily go another 75km.

I can usually estimate how much gas the tank will take to within a litre, once I'm familiar with a vehicle, so I'd rather just shut the warning off.

My guess is your guess is correct. The answer is probably just live with it or get gas.

I’ve only seen my gas light a handful of times, each time was just to run cleaner through it. I’m a half tank filler upper, but I understand people drive a lot more than I do.

Just get gas at a 1/4 tank. Your fuel pump hates you right now.

I used to always fill up at half a tank, just in case of an emergency. These days gas is usually $0.20/litre cheaper at the gas station by my place, so the lineup is long. I've been waiting until I'm down to around 1/4 to make it worth the wait, but sometimes I don't get there as soon as I'd like...

Plus I always like to run the tank empty a few times with a new truck, so I have an accurate estimate of how far I can really go if needed, which is what I'm currently doing.

Okay, THAT is pretty awesome! I'm hesitant on the whole electric thing, because I love driving stick. But I still hope to try one out one day.

Yes this is easy to disable. Press maps, search for “gas” and pull in to the closest gas station.

Like you, I enjoy having my engine suck the sediment that’s at the bottom of the tank.

they make wrong arguments though. pumps are internally cooled not externally. pump is always pulling fuel from the bottom anyways so its always sucking up "sediment". regardless theres a filter on the pump for said sediment. the fuel pump does not run while the engine is off even with they key in on position. if you were to run out of fuel the engine would shut off and the fuel pump would shut off so it would not "burn up". running tank down to the 0 mile left mark is fine. it runs to 0 early for a reason as the remaining 1.5-2 gallons is reserve fuel in case of emergency. all manufacturers do this on purpose. i dont waste my time gassing up until i actually have to. maybe its because i worked at a gas station back in highschool and had to deal with people that would top up literally every single day but its become a genuine pet peeve of mine when people refill the tank when its above 1/2 full.

In over 30 years of driving, I have always run the tank to under a quarter of a tank. I have seen the fuel low light on, on many different vehicles. I have never burnt out a pump. Never sucked up sediment. ( except when I worked at an autowrecker and got some bad gas out of a junk car one time.)

As for the low fuel warning on the Tacoma, just hit the return button and carry on. This is the only way to cancel it, and it is temporary.
