So I am dedicating my 95 taco as a woods/beater truck and just need it to run decent.
    95 tacoma 2.7 4wd manual transmission
conditions to replace it as my everyday were bad miss, running extremely rich with CIL but no codes, (several scanners were used and most just give a fail
when cold it starts fine, dies then starts and runs rough but no power and hard knock after 2000 rpm When hot it is very hard to start
I believe I have narrowed it down to a bad distributor (testing coil shows only .5 ohm on terminals G- and G1 and vacuum test indicates clogged exhaust. 18 at idle with drop to 8-10 at around 2400 rpm with no recovery until brought back to idle.
My query now is what brands of dist. and Cat to go with. OEM is out of the question as I do not find this truck worth putting that kind of $$$$ into so looking for opinions on aftermarket. Summit is listing a bolt in Walker Cat and new Cardone at less than half what NAPA wants but not familiar with either or Summit for that matter. Whats y'alls thoughts on these.

Your truck is probably OBDI and not compatible with OBDII.

Do you have to pass emissions testing?

    No testing in FL.
Truck is OBDII , 95 was the first year for Toyota, with 96 being federally mandated.

I have pulled codes in the past with my scanner and now it is telling me 0 dtc and sometimes just says failure.
Was running fine then stared misfiring on all 4 cylinders one morning running extremely rich which turned my cat red hot.
have replaced with same as last time, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, upstream 02
