Well, I don't have quite the words you were looking for. When I bought my truck used the front was tinted to match the back windows and while it is not flat out unsafe, it definitely does hinder sight late at night and early in the morning to the point where I have considered taking it off. If it were any darker I would have taken it off already but for now I'm going to leave it on and bitch about it.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with Tyler (and your mom) on this. I've thought of doing it myself, but can't get by the thought that it may cause trouble at night or even bad weather conditions. I don't see as much problem with the rear (side) windows as I don't depend on them as much, but seeing what's in my mirrors is critical.

@LarryDangerfield, what is the tint on your windows?

I have no idea, but appearance wise it matches the rear windows. I definitely struggle to see in my mirrors, find myself rolling windows down sometimes

I have 50 in the front. Since it’s ceramic I still get the heat rejection and it’s easier to see. You can definitely tell at night. I personally wouldn’t do 35 unless it’s a car that only gets driven during the day.

Does anyone know what size hex bit the front diff drain plug is? I thought 10mm. I have to buy one, as some of my tools are at work.

Whoops! After reading this tint discussion I called and made an appointment to get my fronts done. 35 is legal and close enough of a match to the rear, for me.

10mm that becomes 3/8 square when you have to weld in the 10mm because the plug is made of soft butter.

I think I previously suggested 20% but yeah as others said it may hinder vision. I'm just used to having it on my vehicles, and I am very shallow/vein and want mine to match the rear windows. I also wear sunglasses at night and pimp the ho's, code of the rap game says I have to have dark tint (ok just kidding on all this lol).

Personally I think 35 is fine, to me it looks like nothing. 50 feels like nothing is done at all, but whatever you do make sure it's ceramic like @Shellshock says and it will be a little cooler inside from UV rejection.

Agreed it should be 10mm. Clean out the dirt first so you get as much bite on a good 10mm hex as you can get. I swapped mine to a Lexus plug that has a 14mm bolt head on the outside instead. Not 100% sure your 4Runner is the same, you'd have to confirm by searching but it probably is.

    Thank you!

    Lol! Thank you!

    Thank you!

I was pretty sure it was 10mm, but figured I'd get some confirmation.

This afternoon was supposed to be 4Runner spa day, but I got called in an emergency service call for work. I'll have to do the fluids tomorrow or next weekend instead.

Thanks for the PN, I need to order one and a new 10mm Allen socket to replace mine that have become one together by the holy matrimony of 140amps of electricity.

Best just to do that anyway, I can never find my 10mm and it’s the only one at the store that’s always sold out.
