Can't tell if that's good humored smartassery, or an actual tip. Either way, I'll take it.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Once you go cap, you’ll never go back. Check pest control companies; one near me was literally wanting people to take their used aluminum caps. It won’t be perfect but it’s a great start. Here is my ARE MX 8757C4B5-63AC-443C-9687-734281CF7060.jpgGood luck in your search and welcome to TW!

Yes you do! I'll have to think about that. I've been focused on how to set up the camping part, but I'll need lighting upgrades for sure.

Thank you! That's a great looking setup. I'll have to start looking around locally.

    Welcome to Tacomaworld.

I have a 3rd Gen with a leveling lift at appx 2”. I’m running tires that add an extra 1” of clearance. Falken WildPeaks.

For a Cap… I went with RSi .. their Smartcap. Stainless steel, excellent carrying capacities. (250lbs dynamic; 750 static).
I added a batwing awning and a CVT
    Mt Washington RTT.

I have a Dometic Fridge with slide and I added a portable battery pack.
The battery pack is Dometic and with a direct power line it can charge and power everything.
Once the truck is off it will run my 55L fridge for Five days (typically speaking) and I can charge other devices like lights and such.

Ditch lights and led fogs for extra light.
If you didn’t get LED headlights; I’d recommend an HID conversion if you can get one.
    Enjoy.

That sounds like a good basic build for what I want to do. Might do without the RTT for a season just to see if I even need it. Everything else, plus a winch, would be a fairly complete starting rig I think. I would learn in a bunch in a season I'm sure.

Idk if anyone's mentioned it either, but nice shocks are worth it, even at stock height. And you can fit 33's pretty easy on the 3rd gens

Yes. I’m just about to upgrade shocks for the second time in 40,000 (metric K’s). Mostly as I need long travel for my Icon RXT leaf pack with overload spring.

I'm optimistic a mostly stock suspension will work for me. I have survived a long time with much less capability (car, 2wd ranger, 2wd F150, Jeep Liberty, 4wd F150(s), all stock). And I'm not chasing a particular look. So, shocks, lifts, bigger tires, etc. are all things I might realize I want or need later on, but I'm really not focused on them now. That said, just a weekend of staring into this vortex of possibilities the Tacoma offers has opened my eyes to the broad appeal of the platform and the allure of self-expression/need-meeting that others are digging into.
