Long story short, oil hydrolocked my 3.5l and shot a couple of rods out of the block.

Picked up junkyard motor, swapped it in. Upon checking it over, found non-factory rtv on timing cover/oil pans. Didn't think much of it. Engine supposedly ran before pulled out of wrecked truck.

Got new motor started for the first time yesterday, let it idle to burn most of the oil filled exhaust out. Motor only was idling at 4-500rpm, had a dead throttle pedal.

    Checked codes, and got : p0017, p0018, p0019, p0021, p0011.

Obviously something is wrong, motor sounds like it runs fine before computer shuts it off. So i know that the timing chain is atleast mostly correct, no metal to metal contact internally.

Going to be swapping sensors and checking over the whole harness today, but my main question is for more of the Ecu knowledgeable people out there.

Does the ecu need to be hard reset? I can clear codes with a basic code reader, but not sure if the Ecu is stuck in "limp" mode from when the motor grenaded, thus setting off probably every sensor known to man on this motor, haha.

Let me know if you guys have any input, or if any of you guys have went thru the same thing (probably not too much grenaded 3.5s out there yet).

Not a big wiring guy, but I'm sure I'll be able to figure out if all sensors are reading right and if the harness got tore when swapping.

Worst comes to worse, I'll be doing the timing chain.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
As long as the Battery has been disconnected during the swap you should be ok.

Do one circuit/code at a time. changing to much at one time can introduce to many unknowns .

Any parts replaced should be checked for operation and found no longer working before replacing.

You did use the old engine harness and sensors with the swapped in engine ?

Look for physical damage or poor connections in the wiring harness!

    Good Luck
