Wondering if anyone has had any luck wiring a factory fog light wiring harness to an aftermarket switch.
Having some trouble after buying a relay switch and fogs and using the existing factory wiring harness.

picking up a new relay today to try that but wondering if the wiring is wrong?.. any help is appreciated.

I dont think the factory fog light switch is activated by a + trigger..... or was it the illumination. I can't recall.

I think that's what your problem is at.

I assume I would need a switch that can reverse the polarity of the incoming wires. Maybe the one I have won’t do that?

my 06 feels like it is an On/Off switch, contacts make in the switch the pulls the relay closed sending power to the fog lamps

The factory fog light switch sends ground to the relay.

Yeah exactly. Just adding a switch I tried using ground as my relay and the backlight on the switch comes on but the fogs still won’t come on.

relay is in place fuse is good and in place. Fogs are connected to factory wiring harness. Hmm have power at switch but still won’t turn on. Lol

There was 2 - a 4 wire for the fog lights which is spliced to the switch and another 5 wire you see in the pic with blue tape

Have a wiring diagram for the switch you're using?

Aftermarket switches tend to not work very well because most are designed to switch the positive side, Toyota switches the negative side so it probably won't be possible to use the indicator light on the switch although you could still hook it up to the dimmer circuit so it would light at night.

    Fog Light switch wires:

    White/Black: Ground
    Blue: Fog Lamp Relay Control
    Green: Illumination -
    Green/White: Illumination +

Do not tie the illumination (Green & Green/White) wires to anything other than the backlight for the switch or you risk frying the Rheostat.
