Here is my install. You can still get a 16-ounce beverage in the cupholder easily and the Qi charger still works, though I don't think anything much bigger than my iPhone SE in an Otterbox will fit. The radio is a Kenwood TK-780 VHF highband. Our department radio tech warned me that the charger might cause interference if you used both at once, but so far I can't detect anything.

This thread was a tremendous help to me in deciding where to put this, I hope this is helpful to someone else. IMG_1229.jpg IMG_1228.jpg

Perfect spot to mount a radio in my opinion. I did some double back tape and played with some locations and have decided to mount my GMRS radio in the same location. I mounted the mic on the DMM above the head unit. Worked out nicely.

Got all of my radios 'hidden'.
Radiodidty CS-47 CB Radio hidden under the passenger seat and powered off of a 12v socket in the backseat. Firestik Antenna from the old Crosstrek out back.
Wouxon KG1000-G mounted inside of the rear driver under-seat cubby and its removable face-plate mounted up front in the cupholder. Retevis MR300 GMRS Radio on the passenger side bed.

Two under seat mounted speakers for the left and right channel on the KG1000G

A bit off topic… but does anybody know if switch blanks for Hilux and Land Cruiser also fit the taco? I’ve found some illuminated UHF switches with rj45 keys built in.

Installed my GMRS radio recently, probably should have taken pictures during the install.

MXT275, Midland coax cable, SBB1-NMO, Rugged Radios mount.

The antenna got installed on the passenger side hood hinge, coax was sheathed in braid and run across the top of the firewall down to the factory grommet.

Radio body was mounted to a brace behind the dash as in this article and I'm running acc power from a fuse tap to the radio.

    20230701_153353.jpg
I installed an RJ-45 switch blank insert to the left of the driver's knee.

    20230719_203255.jpg
    Final product.

It would be more convenient to have it on the other side of the wheel, but I'd have to relocate the switch that's there and get a new RJ-45 switch blank since reviews say they don't like to come out in one piece.

I also need to find a better way to attach the mic hanger, since it doesn't like to stay on.

I should check the VSWR, but I at least have a DC ground between the coax shield at the antenna and the chassis, and everything else seems fine.

You can do it yourself. It's an rg-58 cable.

This install is sweet. I was interested in how you mounted under the dash but your link isn’t working. Can you double check to see if the page is still available.

I'm not sold on the location, mainly because if the airbag goes off, my wife has injured legs...

It wouldn't fit where the Qi charger is even with trimming. I tried. Really hard.

Too tall for the center console, too big for roof mount, too long for glove. Any ideas?

Alrighty gurus. I bought an RJ11 extension cable for my mic mount. Pulled a rookie 101 and didn’t test my new pass through switch blank and cable before buttoning it up.

Mic has power, but it doesn’t seem like any of the buttons work.

Any ideas on the cable? I’m pretty sure these are just straight through and not crossover or anything like that.

    Here’s my suspect:

11 is the 6 pin version, still compatible with the 45 connectors. Or so the standards say.

Installed an old setup on my current truck. Had the Breedlove mount on my last truck and really liked it.

The one in the bed is the 2m antenna.
