Is it worth it to fill this chip in windshield?

I have a very shallow and small rock chip in my windshield. Doesn't bother me but I don't want it to spread. It's so small i'm not sure it's even worth fixing. What do you think?

 

Consider having it filled in by a glass shop before it cracks. Check with your Insurance Company to see if they will cover doing that instead of replacing it. Do you have "Glass Deductible Waiver" on your Insurance policy? Worth a try....(Gosh, I hope "Mr. Insurance Expert" doesn't see this)

 

i don't think it's worth filing an insurance claim over. i rather just pay $50 to have it filled. my deductible is higher than that. will go by a glass shop later this week and see what they think. hard to tell how shallow it is by the picture.

 

You can get a Rain-X repair kit at Walmart for pretty cheap. I have one about the same that I should probably fill, but so far it hasn't cracked.

$11 but if i can get it professionally done for under $50 i would rather go that route.

 

A glass repair shop uses the same material to fix a chip as @cryptolime posted - tons of videos on how to apply it. Totally worth it especially if you live in a cold climate where it can spread into a crack as it's now going to be a stress concentration in the windshield.

 

With the sun reflections I am not sure where/if the crack is ... but I am not doubting your word.

I had one small crack/pit in my windshield. SafeLite said it would probably not spread, but for them to infuse their special bonding fluid they would have to intentionally break it further to allow penetration.

Use one of the DIY kits and repair it. If you don't it will eventually get bigger and you may end up replacing the whole windshield. Your insurance may pay for it, but I try to keep the insurance out of things if possible. Don't want to give them a reason to increase rates or drop me.

 

More of a pit than a chip/crack really. I don't think there is a risk of it spreading. A skim of clear epoxy would probably make it invisible.
