Just saw this patch on my drivers side door. Does this look like early oxidation? How would I go about taking care of this? Would a detail shop be able to buff this out with the correct tools, compounds, etc?
Pretty bummed to see this starting on a rig that’s only 4 years old.

Some Meguairs polish would probably work it out.

No hairline cracks that I can see. I’ll admit, I haven’t waxed it as much as I should. I wash it a few times a month but have neglected to wax. Reading all the paint issues on white Tacoma’s, I’ll be waxing it regularly from now on!

Single stage paint (even blended) will fade quicker than clear coated vehicles. More upkeep is needed to keep oxidation at bay. A quick pass of a very light polish by hand will work that out.

Although it seems even the clearcoated colors on 3rd gens suck as well, so it's a battle of keeping a sealant on it.

Problem is, if you have the peeling paint issue, wax won't help.

If that's just a hazed area a bit of work should brighten it up. I'd work on that spot first, then do a full detail on the whole truck.

Thanks for the tip! So far, no peeling paint anywhere other than a few small rock chips…which I’ll be filling with touch up paint.
This is a hazed area with no other hairline cracks or chips.
I’ll get it in for a full detail and then stay on top of it moving forward.

I just ceramic coated my truck and it looks great. I used Avalon king and did it myself. Washed it really well and then put it on. Super easy and 1 was way more than enough.

I have that same spot on my 2020 sport but on the left passenger door near the door handle.

There are deals for it but I don’t wanna get in trouble if I post a BOGO. It works good but plan on it taking most of the day and you can’t wash it for a week.

    edit….i pmed you.
