If you do use dish detergent go easy on the amount. Too much and it will make it so the plant cells are compromised and it can harm the plant. Used sparsely and the plant shakes it off with the next rain or watering. Trial and error. If the first amount you use has no effect on the insects and the plant looks fine then use a bit more. Test out your mixture on an obscure plant location and spray then check it out the next day if you are unsure of the right recipe.

Thanks! For the aphids, they turn a darker green when they are saturated with the mixture and almost immediately perish. I am not sure but I think they are essentially drowning as their bodies absorb the water instead of repelling it. But that is just a guess. I could be completely wrong.

Do you brew beer? Just wondering what you do with them once they're grown. I dont know of any other uses for hops than beer.

 

I used to brew, but hop tea, chilled is pretty damned good. Other than that, yeah decorative and easy to grow.

 

Are they fragrant at all?

 

Yes very awesomely moreso when plant is bumped, overpowering when harvested and resins all over my fingies

 

These arent food garden related but I just came across these roses, going to try and grow them and surprise the wife. They are supposed to grow with these flowers.

 

Are these on square beds or rectangular?
I mistakenly had trellises the wrong direction and made it hard to get the fruits of the garden.

 

Rectangle. Wife will go in! She's skinny. I tell you the squash and melons are digging the handholds.

 

Found the long side opening to be better for harvesting. Spanning trellises are the easiest.
