I have the soft topper coming in a few weeks, I'm just adding a 12 inch basic brake light. Would I use the basic T harness or go with the long one?

I purchased a Curt trailer harness that ties in between the drivers side brake connections (plug n play).

It was cheaper for me to go that route and just hijack the brake connectors and route a line up to my 3rd brake light.

I have a Softopper as well, but also have a custom aluminum rack over it that I installed my 3rd brake light to.

The only pic I have of this 3rd brake light.

The long 60” brake T is primarily for the superpacific shell. Most people get a basic brake T. However, a soft topper is unique in that it can collapse toward the front of the bed. I think you’d need more than 60” to keep it connected while collapsed.

Some of the Curt harnesses can be found faintly cheap and are good value.

I do plan on adding another plug to be able to do a quick disconnect when I do remove the topper ot fold it down.

I see you all mention the curt harness, which exact harness would i use? I just need it to light up as a running and brake light.

I make a T off the brake connector which is here:

    https://fbchs.square.site/product/tacoma-2016-brake-t-harness/10

Option for brake and ground or brake, park and ground.

If you can find a Curt harness for cheaper you could cut it up and use that. Just match the connectors. But you’re on your own with that, the ones I see are all more expensive.

This is one I was looking at, but not sure if I use this one or the long version. I want it plug n play on the original harness

I ended up buying option 3, looks like that one has the parking, and brake light I'm wanting. Hope it works.

Typically for these you end up DIY’ing your feeds based on purpose. So to keep costs low we just give you the OEM portion. The long might be helpful but unless it’s long enough there isn’t a massive value in it vs 12” if you have to extend anyway.

Vleds has some universal T’s I think.

but, more to the point, if anyone really wants a 2 wire 60” brake T, order the superpacific and send me a note to skip the parking light. I’ll let you pick wire colors too.
