My first vehicle was a brand new '05 SR5 that I bought when I was in AIT. It got totaled after my divorce and I've been aimless ever since. I owned another '07 a few years later, but the engine overheated.

There's probably still pictures around here somewhere of the wreck from the first truck, but it saved my life. I bought a '16 Canyon a couple years ago and immediately regretted it, and have been desperately trying to get rid of it.

Today, while I was in the city looking at vidya games, I realized there was a Toyota dealership across the street...

Now that I'm pushing 40 and have sorted out all my bad finances, my options were a LOT more open. I'm big on the 2nd Gens, and was looking for one - which they had, but the finance guy said "Hey, there's this 2020 that you might like..."

It's basically the truck I *wanted* back in '05, minus the V6, but I honestly don't need a V6. I'm not towing anything anymore, but I have always loved the body style of the Tacomas. This is definitely just a lookin' good truck for me, I'm old enough now that I have a few other offroad and speedy toys. No pictures yet, but it's got some nice aftermarket wheels. I'm honestly in love with the fact that there's minimal/no badging on it other than the 4x4, it looks suuuper clean.

It was so surreal to just...have it happen. I hated that GMC so much. SO much.

I'm curious, though - The previous owner put some "SOCOM" (?) vinyls on it, and it doesn't seem like that's an aftermarket fabricator or anything that I can find. There's a good chance I'm going to pull them off, right now I'm looking for something else to put on there.

As I plan what to do with the truck (other than looks), is there much/anything worth doing mechanically with the I4 models for offroading (or otherwise)? I'm not expecting or planning on doing anything hardcore, I have other vehicles for that stuff, and am more curious about the realistic limitations with the low torque.
