Toyota Cathy design team thought this was a good idea?

Why is there a massive curvature between the bottom rear cabin and bed (Tacoma Trailhunter)? The top curvature does not align with the bottom curvature. The bottom curve is rounder than the top curve; it does not look balance. Looks more like a sport vehicle than a truck.

    Is this for aerodynamic purposes?

The new Tacoma looks like a mini Tundra, and use similar tailights, yet the cabin design is different. For comparison here is the Tundra's cabin rear to bed curvature below.

Notice how the new Tundra curve looks like any other trucks? It looks far more balance. Why doesn't the new Tacoma follow the regular curvature of trucks? On the other hand, the new Tacoma looks like it was cut off at the rear.

However, the new Tacoma curve reminds me of one other truck. The legendary Hilux.

However, the Hilux design is more rounded, so the curve does not look out of place. Even then, it is not as curve as the new Tacoma.

What was Cathy design team thinking when they made the Tacoma curve?

    Does this bother anyone else?

Looking at other pics of the 24, the design has the back of the cab symmetric above and below the bend in the middle. The bed follows this profile for the low 55%. Looks fluid and appropriate to me.

It is CALTY Design Center right here in SoCal. Worked on their modeling studios in 1990.

Sometimes I think that competitors are posting crap about Toyota on the forum. Sometimes I think that the site administration is having fun trolling us. There is no way somebody can be genuinely this .. hmm.. picky as couple of users around gen4 section. I just cannot imagine it.
