Being honest, I don't want to take a chance and screw it up.:rofl:Its an outstanding tune, you've produced on hell of a mod, and I'm really happy with it. Thanks again Justin!

Another big thanks to Wicked Matt for putting his personal 2020 4Runner on the dyno to help us in finalizing the OTT 5th Gen 4Runner Magnuson Calibration. We've had it in final Beta phase for some time now with many happy customers. However, today we were able to fully vet it, put the final polish on it and have it be a full production release. For those that may not know, Matt Miner (Owner of Wicked Matt Tuning) is a full service facility with an in house Mustang Dyno. He's our go to for those of you in the RI area.

This particular vehicle has an aFe intake and the Magnuson S/C kit (TVS1320) installed and was baselined 8/3/2023 with the supplied tune from Magnuson. Today, we loaded up the OTT T4R Maggy Calibration and here is what we were able to achieve with the OTT calibration on Premium unleaded fuel.

    WM-TRDBRO-MSC-OTT-Final-vs-MSC-Base-No-GL.jpg

    Notes for this particular platform:
    • Upgraded fuel pump strongly recommended even for stock vehicle fitted with supercharger. ANY pulley upgrade MUST have fuel pump upgrade.
    • Fuel pump upgrade available from URD.
    • Aftermarket intake not required on this platform, very little improvement in output even in S/C applications.

@JustDSM Justin, have you heard from Matt Clark in Georgia? I started talking with him about getting a tune, and he said his Dad was in the hospital. I haven't heard from him for a bit, but don't want to bother him if it's a bad time.

My tune can wait - just hoping all is OK.

One tank of gas through the truck after flashing the medium-spicy version of the OTT. Definitely loving the responsiveness of the gas pedal since tuning. I feel more “get up and go” when merging with traffic. Hills aren’t so laggy now either. I also hear my TRD intake more so than before the tune. Probably just a mental effect. I also expected to have a worse mpg due to playing with the new tune and getting used to it. But surprisingly it was better. I mainly just drive in the city, hence why the low mpgs. FWIW I've had the light/mild OTT tune for about 5 months now and the mileage has actually improved over time. Here's a recent screenshot. Short trip, but it was almost exactly 50% freeway and 50% city street driving. At first mileage was not great, but a lot of it was my fault since I was "testing" the tune in every which way I could. Since then I've settled into just enjoying how it drives, powering up an onramp or tooling around town. Still the best money I've spent on our Taco to date.

I've had the lite/mild tune on my 2021 since November but finally had the chance to take a long road trip and test out both modes at highway speeds over long periods of time. The responsiveness of mild is great with CC (non radar) turned off but once I turned on CC that was no longer the case. To my surprise, with CC on the lite performed much better than the mild whenever I had to climb an incline. Lite would hold a low gear during the climb but mild was constantly hunting on every slope.

Is the difference in CC behavior due to one level being standard and the other being tied to the ECT button? If I switched my default to mild would it behave better while on CC?

So recently picked up another 3rd gen. Had a ‘16 which was terrible and traded. Finally got back into a ‘23 which is much better than the ‘16. Gas pedal and acceleration is noticeably better and I don’t mind. One thing I’ve really noticed and bothers me is when slowing down at a intersection and turning when accelerating there is a hesitation/weird up shift then immediately downshifts when you press the gas (kind of hard to explain). Does this tune fix all the weird gear hunting even down in the lower gears? Probably a dumb question

I didn't know they made a 16 foot and 23 foot Tacomas! What cab/bed configurations are those? :poking:

Hey Justin, been trying to catch you, i was able to pick up a used VF dongle and cable for a good deal. I was trying to get a copy of the 2.7 files with the different throttle settings. I obviously had your tune before, i tried out KD and wanted to flash OTT back to get a side by side one after another apples to apples comparison.

    Thanks

How does getting an OTT tune work for the various areas of the country?

I'm new to tuning for sure.
