Nothing wrong with a 1" body lift. It's incredibly common in the T4R community to help fit larger tires. No reason a Tacoma can't do it too.

Body lifts are a bad idea when you start going over 1 - 2" with them. Using a small body lift to compliment your suspension lift and help fit bigger tires is common practice, the blanket body lift hate that gets parroted on here by everyone is ignorant at best

I installed the 1" toytec body lift. Tried using the radiator drop brackets but looked like they caused more problems than they solved. I pulled on the abs harness and will have to replace it. Stretched the wiring and can't find the short but I know it's there from a volt meter. It also appears that the fan shroud is being touched by the fan a hair because I didn't drop the radiator. I'll most likely cut the shroud to accommodate. Those are the only issues I've ran into. Anyone else not use the drop brackets for the radiator?

I have a 2017.. I followed the instructions and tried to use the rad. brackets but it created a problem not solve one. After I installed them.. the shroud hit the rad fan. I left it as is and I've had zero issues. The original kit wasn't made for 16 and up so im guessing that the 1" diff. between the 15 to 16 might be it. No problems though. Sorry to hear about the abs issue

I didn’t use the rad drop brackets. But if you lossen the 4 bolts you have enough play to push the radiator down enough when you tighten the bolts to where it won’t hit

I have an 06 and we do body lifts because they don’t sell a 4” lift. That’s why.

Ill be installing a 1inch toytech body lift too to give me more clearance on my 35s . Dont want to cut the fenders if i can avoid it. Also thinking about putting on option 3 with my Icon rxts and cranking up my kings up front from 2.6 inches of lift to 2.8 what do you guys think?

Okay so I have bit the bullet on a lot of new stuff and have learned lots from you all on Tacoma World. I have had this truck since 9/2017 and its a 2017 dclb. I love my long bed and would do it again in a heart beat. So the new thing I am going to experiment with is putting a Toytec 1" body lift soon on this puppy. I run a very clear problem with the front bumper as it is a low pro I got from BA. I already chopped the front end up to fit the Body Armor bumper and may get a good gap now with the install of the Toytec lift. I will update you all on my project once I complete it.

I have the bilstein 5160 6112 set up with the OME leaf pack. I am running 31.5 tires which rub hence the want for the Toytec body lift.
    20201017_161331.jpg

UPDATE: Finished after 10 hrs....you do need the radiator drop brackets. Just loosen the 4 radiator support screws let the radiator sag a bit and attach the drop brackets. You have to modify your mud flaps after as well as the cab mount shoves them forward. Frustrated but done!!! Message me if you try this Toytec 1 inch body lift as I may be able to save you some time for the 3rd gen Tacoma install. I love it after it all!!!

Great info. Your truck looks good. I am considering getting a 1” body lift, but haven’t fully committed. Can you send me a side shot of the rear wheel? I want to see what the frame gap would look like. Haven’t seen any gap guards for 3rd gen Tacoma’s for the rear. Thanks!

Just did the 1 inch toytec on a 2018 taco.

Took me exactly 11 hours for the whole front and bed! Stoked with the outcome but damn it’s a process. USE the radiator drop brackets even though its a pain to get them to work/fit.

    Bringing back an old thread.
    2019 Taco Manual Trans.

I installed the Toytec 1" BL to compliment my 2" 5100 lift. (Wanted to keep my CV angles healthy) No issues with the shifter btw (I wasn't sure while doing research). Just lowers it an inch, and I had the URD short shifter that raised it up anyway.

Now that this is an older thread. Did anyone ever have any issues with the Steering splines coupler after driving for a period of time. I think it will be fine, but I am worried about it detaching. Is there any options to get a longer coupler from somewhere?

So the splines in the bottom bolt on the coupler is notched to allow the bolt in the coupler to pass through, so there really isn't any adjustability on the bottom spline. (Maybe 1/8 of an inch or less)

The splines in the top bolt are not notched and the bolt just passes through the coupler without touching the Splines. So really the 1" of adjustment on it comes from the splines at the top only. I was hoping to get half n half.

Again, I think its ok, but I would feel better if there was a longer coupler for piece of mind.

Also I think I will have to complete a VSC clear and recalibrate bc I have the TSS alarms, and ABS light as well. (But I think I triggered that when I took the Coupler off to exam the space in between and allowed the steering wheel to rotate all the way to one side).

I ended up purchasing a longer steering shaft coupler from daystar. It was an inch longer than stock and was close to $200. Install was a pain but worth it in the end. I also spacered my rear bumper 3/4 of an inch after the install and im very happy with the results.

No. I contacted daystar via phone to get it. It was part of a body lift kit.

Looks about right. Worked good for me, but had to beat it into place with a prybar from on top. Lubing the splines would have probably helped.
