I had a 2018. Guy copied the keyless fob right out of my pocket as I was going on a date near by. (This was Houston mind you) but he probably unlocked the doors with the signal. Plugged in the obd port started the engine drove off and God nows what's happening to it.

If you get a 2nd gen it won’t have that.

it might work. Depending on where you mount the alarm so it’s heard. Or they’ll cut the wire. They might run away.
Or engine kill switch but that’s probably annoying to activate regularly.

I’ve been thinking about what’s a good tracking device. Maybe an apple AirTag somewhere

If he copied your fob, he likely didn't need access to the OBDII port to steal the truck as they likely would have just made their own key right then and there.

Either way, a fake OBDII port can't hurt. If nothing else, you could always just cut the wires on this port and make it look like they're leading away as if nothing is out of place, and then move the real one.

Well supposedly someone attaches a computer to the OBD port and the alarm goes off till someone pushes the kill switch for the alarm. I like the idea but the company is overseas and I feel it's a Chinese kind of scam.

exactly. I believe many keyless cars are that way. The emulator tricks the car into thinking the key is there enough to just press the push start button.
I believe generally automakers program it in a way that one "start" is enough to keep the car on until driver shuts it off, regardless of how far it goes.

    That's part of the plan.
