Well on my drive yesterday I started to feel the car jerking and surging a bit. Turns out I've got some misfiring going on. Currently a few hundred miles from home and my tools. Any concerns with driving this thing that far while running like this? It is most noticeable when idling or in 2nd gear. Once up to highway speeds not too bad. But this thing is jerking around pretty good and pretty consistently. Bummer. But just wondering if there's any damage that can be done riding it like this for a bit.

    Thanks!

If the CEL flashes that is the PCM telling you that you are doing damage. I was hoping that it is a coil but cyl 1 and cyl 5 dont share the same coil.

The biggest risk of running with a misfire for any length of time is damaging the catyletic converter which isn't cheap to replace.

Well shit hit the fan with this one. On my way home and it started making some knocking/flapping noises. Pulled over and the engine is smoking. Passenger side valve cover coated in oil. One of the coil packs is loose and the upper portion of the rubber seal was ripped and coming out. So ik I've got a tube seal failure and a busted coil pack.
