    Hi,
    I have a 2013 Tacoma "Texas edition,
Just sharing this in case someone has a similar issue.
My Tacoma has 2450 miles today, and I was facing an issue since first week I got it, the "4LO light and 4WD icon" were flashing continuously WITHOUT beeps and the 4x4 not engaging at all, I couldn't have Toyota support because I'm not in US, in my country (Angola) is very hard to have good support for US cars, so i started to make some researches in online forums, unfortunately couldn't find any good suggestions/explanations neither. so I started to dig the issue by my self before I drive the car to mechanic to have it "try fix :(", yes try fix (was not sure they could fix the issue.
I found that "likely" 2 wires cut in a connector plugged to the transmission box. (my dog did it)
After soldering the wires and re-plug the connector, the lights stopped to flash and the 4x4 is engaging normally. I avoided me some hundreds dollar$, again if the mechanic could fix.
